• Increased taxation from the French and Indian Conflict.

• More control from Britain.

• Minutemen were farmers with ammunition and arms ready to fight a “defensive” war with Britain.

Lexington and Concord

• Paul Revere made his famous ride..

• William Dawes… the other one.

• April of 1775, Dawes and Revere ride out to warn of British troops coming from Boston.

• They make it to Lexington before they are arrested.

York in the summer of 1776.

• 32,000 soldiers enter Boston with General William Howe.
