EXPERIENCE

GREAT BRITAINChapter One

Rich history, bucolic beauty, renowned landmarks and cosmopolitan cities make this a land of inf inite variety

belmond.com/northernbelle belmond.com/northernbelle

Few countries can match the variety of Great Britain’s attractions. Its rich history stretches through its kings and queens to the Industrial

Revolution, the British Empire and the cosmopolitan nation it is today. It leads the world in art, music and culture, as well as boasting renowned landmarks, museums, festivals and sporting events.

Experience London at your leisure or join one of our tours, such as heading to the top of the towering Shard, seeing a great West End show, or going on our Historic Beefeater Tour. Discover Bath’s Roman past, admire its architecture and browse its boutiques, or explore the Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate with its 19th-century Royal Pump Rooms.

Enjoy the history and character of York, a pretty walled city. Step back in time in Bristol aboard Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s

19th-century steam ship, a wonder of the Industrial Revolution, or visit the Roman city of Chester and its famous zoo.

Architectural treasures include Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in England, and the cathedral, castle and university in the nearby city of Durham.

Visit Cragside in Northumberland — a technological wonder of the Victorian age or savour the peace and beauty of Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, with more than 18,000 trees and shrubs.

In the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, uncover the secrets of daily life aboard the former royal yacht HMY Britannia, tour the city’s castle, or head deep below the Royal Mile to The Real Mary King’s Close, a maze of 17th-century streets. There is also an opportunity to visit Rosslyn Chapel, dating back to 1446, a few miles south of the city centre.

WELCOME

ON BOARDChapter Two

Belmond Northern Belle recaptures the age of rail travel at its most glamorous. What else would you expect f rom the sister train of the legendary

Venice Simplon-Orient-Express?

belmond.com/northernbelle belmond.com/northernbelle

From the hand-painted exterior to the opulent interiors — created by a local designer using handmade fabrics — no detail on Belmond Northern Belle has been overlooked. The veneered marquetry interiors have been inspired by the great British castles and stately homes after which the carriages are named — Alnwick, Belvoir, Chatsworth, Warwick, Glamis, Harlech and Duart.

Essex-based A Dunn & Son originally created — and then restored — the famed marquetry on sister train Belmond British Pullman. Its designs for Belmond Northern Belle still employ traditional methods dating back to the 1700s.

Complementing the beautiful interiors is excellent cuisine featuring

seasonal delicacies that are skilfully woven into classic and innovative dishes by our Executive Head Chef and his team. The best local produce is sourced along the route, including succulent meat from remote Welsh farms, apple juice from Cheshire orchards and a cheeseboard full of delicious varieties that spans the entire width of the carriage aisle.

We know how important it is to take time out from our day-to-day lives to spend with those closest to us, so why not bring all the generations of the family together and spoil your loved ones with one of our luxurious day trips or short breaks? Bring together all the generations of the family for an extraordinary day out and create memories to last a lifetime.

A JOURNEY OF DELIGHTSLuxuriously adorned carriages, gastronomic gems, fun excursions

and a welcoming ambience ensure an unforgettable experience

Larger parties can make a group reservation and enjoy exclusive use of the whole train or an entire carriage. This is an ideal way to host parties or corporate events.

YOUR

JOURNEYChapter Three

Choose a train journey that inspires you, whether you remain on board for the entire trip or combine it with a visit to a historic site, stately home,

fascinating city or sporting day out

belmond.com/northernbelle belmond.com/northernbelle

THE JOURNEYSDeparting f rom a variety of stations, our day trips

and short breaks take you through scenic countryside to historic destinations and cultural, sporting and

horticultural events, enjoying on-board dining as you travel

Our best of british journeys visit the destinations that put the great in Great Britain, from elegant cities such as Bath and Edinburgh to Brunel’s SS Great Britain and the scenic splendour of the Yorkshire countryside. You may also like the colourful delights of England’s leading horticultural shows, including the famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show, regularly attended by Her Majesty the Queen, the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show held within the palace grounds, and the early blooms at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show. And for those who love the drama, skill and excitement of a world-class sporting event, let us take you to such highlights of the sporting calendar as Royal Ascot.

On our signature journeys, you board the train for a circular tour through the British countryside and a delicious lunch. The Spirit of Travel lunch or dinner trip, accompanied by champagne, whisks you

back to a more gracious age as strolling musicians provide a soothing soundtrack to your dining experience and a magician entertains you at your table. Sunday is a rare occasion for the family to come together to relax and enjoy each other’s company and our journey, Sunday Lunch, provides a traditional feast with a modern twist, including a glass of champagne. With strolling musicians and a table magician, it’s a day out that the entire family will love.

Alternatively for a short break we have combined our train journey with an overnight hotel stay in Edinburgh, where you enjoy prime seats at the famous Tattoo — a celebration of music and military pageantry —and time to explore the vibrant Scottish capital.

For those who enjoy fine dining, our lavish five-course dinners to effervescent afternoon teas promise heaven for foodies.

ENJOY A DAY OUT AT THE RACES

Enjoy a themed Fireworks Dinner and at Christmas, a glass of bubbly, fine wines and table magicians add to the festive mood during our seven-course Christmas lunch when all guests receive a special gift.

Keep an eye on our website for celebrity events hosted by Britain’s leading chefs. In the past, culinary stars such as Raymond Blanc have conjured up special tasting menus for our guests. Or join us for the Champagne Laurent-Perrier Afternoon Tea and enjoy four glasses of the finest vintages with an afternoon tea of traditional sandwiches, pastries and cakes with musical entertainment. For the young at heart, or those who just want to let their hair down, the Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea adventure includes

surprises that will make you curiouser and curiouser to find out what is going to happen next.

All our journeys are perfect for special occasions — let us know and we can organise a surprise birthday cake, flowers or “ just because” champagne. Treat your mother to an unforgettable day out with a delicious lunch, strolling musicians and a special Mother’s Day gift. Or say “I love you” with a lavish Valentine’s Day lunch accompanied by champagne and fine wines — a memorable and intimate occasion for the most romantic day of the year. Each of these themed journeys aboard the Belmond Northern Belle will create magical memories that will stay with you for many years to come.

Other recommended places to stay in London include The Grosvenor Hotel, which encapsulated the golden age of travel when it opened in the 19th century. Today, its rooms combine contemporary styling with historic touches. The Goring, opened in 1910, is the only family-run five-star hotel in London. Our booking conditions apply to the trips described in this brochure. These conditions are available on request by calling your nearest Reservation Office from the following locations:UK: 0845 077 2222 +44 (0)203 117 1300 US: +1 800 524 2420 (toll free) Singapore: +65 6395 0678 or online: belmond.com/termsandconditions

Our booking conditions contain important limitations and exclusions of liability. Please read them before we confirm your booking. Adequate travel insurance is vital. Details of a policy suitable to cover the arrangements you book are available from an advisor at RHG Insurance Brokers on +44 (0)1438 345714 or +44 (0)1438 345719 (please quote “VSOE Travel” when calling). We provide financial security for flight-inclusive Packages (a “Package” exists if you book a pre-arranged combination of at least two of the following components when sold or offered for sale at an inclusive price and when the service covers a period of more than 24 hours or includes overnight accommodation: (a) transport; (b) accommodation; (c) other tourist services not ancillary to transport or accommodation and accounting for a significant proportion of the Package) and ATOL protected flights by way of a bond held by the Civil Aviation Authority under ATOL number 3141.

Your Financial Protection: when you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This

lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong.

We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.

Not all holiday or travel services offered and sold by us will be protected by the ATOL scheme. Protection for all Packages not including flights is provided by means of a separate trust account in which all monies paid to us in respect of a Package will be held until the Package in question has been completely performed. Non-Package arrangements and arrangements not booked or departing from the UK are not protected by these arrangements.

On certain trips a minimum number of persons is required for the tour to take place. We will notify passengers at least 56 days before departure if a trip is cancelled for this reason. The applicable deposit (15% unless otherwise stated) must be paid to us when you book (or if booking within 56 days of departure, full payment must be made on booking).

If there are fewer than 12 passengers in your party, and if you have made your booking more than 56 days before departure and have paid a deposit to secure your booking, the balance of the cost of your arrangements (including any applicable surcharge) is due not less than 56 days prior to scheduled departure. If there are 12 or more passengers in your party, payments must be made as follows: 15% of the cost of your arrangements is payable on booking, a further 35% of such cost (including any applicable surcharge) is due 90 days before departure (if your booking is made between 90 and 56 days before departure).

If your booking is made less than 56 days before departure, you will be required to pay the entire cost of your arrangements at the time of your booking. If we do not receive (in cleared funds) the balance in full and on time, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you, in which case cancellation charges will become payable. Cancellation charges apply in the event you or any member of your party cancels a confirmed booking. These charges will increase the closer to your departure date that you notify us of a cancellation.

We regret we are unable to offer you any assistance if you are delayed at the outward or homeward points of departure. Non-UK passport holders, including other EU nationals, should obtain up-to-date advice on passport and visa requirements from the Embassy, High Commission or Consulate of your destination or country(ies) through which they are travelling.

We reserve the right to amend the price of unsold trips at any time.
