FED Mission
• No official mission statement to date
• I would state it as:– Disseminate our knowledge of fusion energy
to colleagues and to the public– Recognize contributions of our members– Encourage the participation of young
members
Division/TG Governance
• Executive Committee: at least 6 members (usually 13, currently 12, 3-year term)– Chair (1 yr), Vice Chair (1 yr), Sec/Treas (2 yr)– Standing: Nominating and Honors&Awards– Newsletter&Web: Editors are rolling horizon– Liaisons:

• Professional Development– Very little to date
• Scholarships– NEED– Student awards at the Topicals
• Student Support– travel support for students to Topicals, Student
Conferences, and National Meetings
• Recognition– Awards to Scientists at Topicals– Significant Contributions to Teller Medals

• National Meeting Participation– Averaging 2 sessions per year– Sharing two sessions with RPSD in June
• Topical Meetings– Just held standalone Topical in Madison (200
papers, 1/3 foreign, 1/6 students; paper count was significant increase over previous mtngs)
– Next will be embedded in Albuquerque in 2006. Olson and Rochau (Sandia) will host
– Also co-sponsor of IFSA Meetings
