W orthington was created in 1985 by a businessman that had ties to the architectural products industry. The intent of the creation of Worthington was to sell architectural products and use the profits to put his two children through college. After graduation, one of the two children was brought into Worthington to manage and operate it as a career. Through the 1990’s

Worthington (known as “Worthington Group, LTD) had great success in delivering high quality products to custom home builders and homeowners through catalog sales. Around the year 2000, and for whatever reason, the owners at Worthington decided that this wasn’t the career path that they wanted to follow and Worthington closed its doors to the sale of its products.

One year later in 2001 a different group of individuals wanted to operate Worthington and asked the old owners if they would entertain the idea of opening the doors with the agreement that they would become 50% owner in the business. At that point a young Kyle Boatwright was hired on at Worthington as a sales associate to sell for the company. During Kyle’s early employment he was attending Troy University while working on a Master’s in Business Administration and had just completed his business degree in Marketing from Troy. After being at Worthington for over a year, Kyle approached the current managing partners of Worthington, with a financial partner, and asked for an opportunity of ownership. At the time Worthington was not in great shape and the owners agreed to “handover” the keys in exchange for assuming the debts that were accumulated by the company over the previous management. An agreement was reached and in 2003 Worthington was assigned over to Kyle and the financial partner and Worthington was re-incorporated into a new corporation – Worthington Millwork, LLC.

In 2005 Kyle purchased the 50% interest of the financial partner and is now 100% shareholder of the business. Since then Kyle has built the company from essentially a rundown business, that was in debt, into a multi-million-dollar business that has had great success over the past 13+ years to the great business that it is today. The previous owners and partners no longer have any influence in Worthington and the company continues to have great success in delivering high end, American made, architectural products across the United States and Abroad.

At Worthington, we take pride in providing our customers exclusively with products that comply with the Federal Trade Commission’s Made in USA standard.

The Made in USA standard is highly regulated and very specific. According to the FTC, “marketers and manufacturers that promote their products as Made in USA must meet

the “all or virtually all” standard.” That means all significant parts, processing and labor pertaining to the product must originate in the U.S.

The standard was established to prevent deception and unfairness in the marketplace. False or misleading claims can result in penalties.

See the difference: When shining a small flashlight on the inside of a column base, you should not be able to see light pass through. This simple test shows the difference between a Worthington Class A fire rated column and a

competitor’s, which does not meet the same fire standards.

FRP Fiberglass Columns

Are your columns load-bearing?

Yes. All of WorthingtonStone™, WorthingtonCast™, Worthing-tonFRP™, Aluminum, and a wide array of architectural wood columns are all load bearing as long as they are not split. Our WorthingtonWrap™ PVC column is our only column that must be installed with a structural support in a load bearing application.

If my columns are split, what type of adhesive do I need to

reassemble them?

To reassemble a split Worthington Column, a polyurethane con-struction adhesive should be used. This product can be found at any hardware or construction supply provider or purchased directly from us. For our wood columns, any waterproof wood glue should be used.

How are the columns shipped?

Each column shipment is arranged with a pre-qualified freight carrier company from our network of reputable freight carriers. If shipping capitals and/or bases individ-ually, and depending on the size of capitals and bases, we may use FedEx small package service.

If my columns are split, are they still load bearing?

Split columns are used for visual purposes only (alumi-num is the exception). Once the column is cut vertically, it is no longer load-bearing.

Can I trim my columns to a shorter height?

Yes. All of our tapered columns come with the bottom 1/3 of the column non-tapered. If the column is non- tapered; you may trim to any specific height. Either way the column must be trimmed from the bottom of the shaft only.

Do I have to paint my columns?

It depends. If you are using one of our WorthingtonCast™, WorthingtonFRP™ or Paint grade wood columns then an oil-based or acrylic latex paint must be used. Our Worthing-tonStone™ Columns come in a pre-finished material that, unless installation touch ups are needed, does not require painting.

Yes! Our WorthingtonUrethane™ balustrade system comes pre- painted with our factory white paint. The WorthingtonStone™ is pre-colored and has six colors to choose from and the WorthingtonCast™ arrives ready to be primed and painted on-site.

Can you pre-paint my railing for me a custom color?

Yes! We offer an option to pre-painting our Worthington Urethane™ balustrade systems to a specified color and sheen of your choice! This can save you a great deal of time. Please all us at 1-800-872-1608 for more information and to request this when you are getting an estimate from us.

What is the lightest balustrade material to get?

The lightest material in our Balustrade System is the Worthingtonurethane™. De-spite being lightweight it is still structural and will pass all of the building codes!

What type of adhesive can I use to attach your system?

Worthington strictly recommendsthat you use Loctite PL-Premium (made by the Henkel Corporation) Urethane-based adhesive for our polyurethane products. Using damage the product and void the warranty. Liquid Nails can be used on our Worthington-Stone™ System.

Do all of your balustrade systems pass the building

codes?

Yes! All of our balustrade systems have been tested and meet either the BOCA or ICC building codes. We have tested them all and they meet or exceed the requirements for both residential and commercial use.

Who do you recommend to install your balustrade

systems?

Typically a skilled carpenter is the type of person that is needed to install any of our three systems.

Our balustrade systems all comply with or exceed the building code requisites of BOCA and ICC for guard rails, and all of our porch balusters can be spaced to meet the four-inch sphere rule required by most codes. We also offer balusters that meet the 36-inch and 42-inch rail heights required by the residential and commercial building codes.

To make sure that you can enjoy our products for a long time, most of our balustrade come with a limited lifetime warranty for commercial and residential applications. Worthington’s new custom pergola system line is designed to offer endless possibilities in design, size and features that accommodate almost every client’s need and vision.We have created many custom pergolas for development entrances, roof top applications and as additions to existing or new homes and offices.

Our clients simply need to submit their plans and drawings of a pergola system, so we can custom design the system and match heights and sizes accurately.

The custom capabilities of our CNC router allows us to create any square PVC column simply from a plain design. The highly involved, raised panels can then be customized, so we can create the client’s envisioned pergola.

Our trellis system is constructed of high-quality cellular PVC, and the design options of our new custom trellis product line are endless. Porch railings are the affrodable way to add character and style to any home.

We offer two different options for railing systems, the Worthington custom PVC railing and our aluminum railing system. Both railing systems come with a variety of customizable options, like color, size and design.

ALUMINUM

The aluminum railing kits are very popular among our clients as they are very low in cost and rust-free. We also offer a great variety of color options to fit the exterior of every

home. Another benefit of this kit is the easy installation. The balusters connect to the rail with a rubber mallet.

Our rail kits come complete with a top rail, bottom rail, pre-installed baluster connectors, mounting brackets for top and bottom rails, bottom rail support, two pieces of two-sided tape for the top brackets and the round or square balusters, one 5-inch bit for the install and hardware, which includes stainless steel screws and grommets for the bottom rail support blocks.
