1865 – “American Civil War Ends.”1865 – Victory parade in Washington, District of

Columbia. 1866 – U.S. Congress passes the first

Reconstruction Act. 1870 – Mississippi is re-admitted to the U.S.

1872 - 1874

1872 – Britain pays the U.S. $15 million for damage during the Civil War.

1872 – Yellowstone National Park is established as the worlds first national park.

1873 – First battle of the Stronghold in the U.S. Modoc War
