B oston-based Trevor Fulmer (right, 33 and an art director)

and Jim Mattus (33 and an attorney) themed their beachside

wedding weekend on their love of JFK-era Americana. From

Ralph Lauren outfits to a croquet match and vintage Porsche

Speedster, the couple’s celebration—which included a rehearsal

dinner, beach bonfire, gold-and-black ceremony and reception, and

farewell brunch—had all the makings of a quintessential Cape Cod

affair. “We wanted ‘classic American glamour’ blended with the

elegance of Ralph Lauren,” Trevor says. “The historic Ocean Edge

mansions became the perfect backdrop to spend the weekend with

family and friends.” One modern element the couple included? A

the rehearsal dinner Knowing the wedding would be black tie, Jim and Trevor kept the mood laid-back. But the couple still made a statement, with rowing blazers, seersucker pants and bright driving moccasins. the decor Ocean-blue hydrangeas popped against Jaws-themed accents, an ode to Trevor’s love of great whites. “The Jaws poster seating chart said, ‘Just when you thought it was safe to take your seat,’ ” he adds.

the ceremony With a grand estate vibe in mind, the couple married on the mansion’s front lawn between two Grecian-styled urns with cascading ivy. They included the Celtic tradition of a “loving cup” to honor their past, present and future. the attire Jim and Trevor donned peak-lapel tuxes with matching black velvet tuxedo slippers for the ceremony, then swapped to white dinner jackets for the evening reception. Trevor later rocked black patent leather high-top Converse kicks for the couple’s first spin on the dance floor. the cake Jim’s aunt, a pastry chef, designed the gilded, three-tier carrot and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.

the brunch The day after the ceremony and reception, Jim and Trevor threw a mimosa-filled brunch and croquet party for their 124 guests. the dress code Polo shirts and sundresses filled the croquet lawn. “Knowing it was the end of the seaon, we encouraged our guests to wear all white,” Trevor says. “We provided dozens of Tide pens!” the nerves “Because most of our events were outside, I had nightmares of hurricanes, torrential rains and power outages,” Trevor says. “But we lucked out with perfect weather—72 and sunny all weekend.”
