ACCP Overview• The ACCP was founded in 1935 by Murray Kornfeld, with the
original focus of treating and preventing tuberculosis.
• Now, the world’s largest clinical pulmonary, critical care, sleep medicine society.
• The CHEST Foundation, philanthropic arm of the ACCP, was established in 1996.
• ACCP e-Community rolled out in 2012 to all NetWork members.
• ACCP apps available include the CHEST journal, ACCP Bronch+, ACCP 3-D Bronchial Tree, Radiology, ACCP-SEEK, and ACCP-SEEK with CME.
• Monthly electronic ACCP Leadership Update sent from President and EVP/CEO to all members of ACCP leadership.
• Weekly e-newsletter, ACCP NewsBrief, sent to all members.
• Website - www.chestnet.org.
ACCP Vision
As the global leader in providing education in cardiopulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, the ACCP will promote diversity to optimize health, advance patient care, and support research while fostering health equity.
ACCP Mission
To promote the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chest diseases through education, communication, and research.

Goals for 2012-2013:
1. Deliver a diversified and innovative portfolio of education programs to advance the three pillars of our mission: cardiopulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
2. Grow the ACCP community (members, partners, nonphysicians, and customers) to advance our mission and foster health equality.
3. Increase public/patient awareness of the ACCP and cardiopulmonary disease.
4. Implement a new technology infrastructure for the College.
5. Ensure that the ACCP structure (leadership and organization) is strategically aligned and properly prepared across the College to advance College priorities.
6. Maintain a strong and diverse financial base.
7. Fund, design, and build a new ACCP headquarters.

ACCP Conflict of Interest PolicyThe current Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy was
amended in August 2012, by the ACCP Board of Regents. Its structure includes three levels for leadership, with specific rules related to COI for each level.
COI POLICY
Each year, members of leadership will be asked to complete a new electronic COI form and may be requested to update that form throughout the year if representing the ACCP at external meetings, applying for a guideline panel, etc.

in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
Ranked fourth in impact factor among all respiratory systems and critical care journals.
New enhanced website, journal.publications.chestnet.org, features better content display, increased search functions, and easier access to ACCP evidence-based guidelines and consensus statements.
Available in mobile format on all smartphones, as well as an app for iOS devices including the iPad®, iPhone®, and iPod touch®.
Monthly podcast can be played from mobile devices and from the new journal home page.
All content is free to the public 12 months after publication, including the entire CHEST archive back to 1935.
