Conference Scheduled on Coronarv Care Units

A National Conference on Coronary Care Units to discuss ideas, experiences and problems in the establishment of such units has been scheduled for June 24-25, 1967 at the Washing- ton Hilton Hotel in Washington, D. C. The conference is co-sponsored by the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Heart Disease Control Program of the Public Health Service.

Topics to be discussed include the facilities, equipment, personnel and training programs needed to establish coronary care units in hos- pitals of various size. Also under discussion will be results and problems in the treatment of myocardial infarction in coronary care units, mutual problems of physicians, nurses and other professional personnel working in the units and

J

the need for expanded professional education programs for peisonnel to staff additional cor- onary care units. The delegates will also dis- cuss the need for research to provide information on the prevention of catastrophic complications of myocardial infarction. Attendance at the Con- ference will be limited to those presently working in established coronary care units.

Invitations are being extended to the medical directors and nursing supervisors of units which are known to be in operation. Further in- formation concerning the conference and reg- istration forms may be obtained from Richard E. Hurley, M.D., Director, Medical Education, American Heart Association, 44 East 23rd

Street, New York, N. Y. 10010. Advance registration is required.
