Day 1: Natural BridgeNew Horizons will stay overnight at Natural Bridge Hotel where we will have dinner and see the Drama of Creation, a beautiful light show.

Day 2: CharlottesvilleWe will tour Natural Bridge with a Park Ranger then head for Charlottesville, where we will dine on southern favorites in a historical tavern. Then we will head to Monticello for a 2.5 hour experience that includes the new Film Jefferson’s World, a state of the art museum tour of Jefferson’s home, Mulberry row Slave Quarters and Jefferson grave site. We will end our day at a hotel in Richmond and dinner with Civil War entertainment that evening.

Day 3: RichmondRichmond was the Capitol of the Confederacy and the object of the union strategy throughout the Civil War. As a result, over 5 major battles were fought within 30 miles of the city. Here we will visit the only Capital in the Nation that at one time held two bodies of government(Virginia State and the Confederate Governments). We visit 1862 and 1864 battlefield and also the White House of the Confederacy the home to Jefferson and Varina Davis.

Daily Itinerary

Day 4: FredericksburgFrom Richmond we will head North to Fredericksburg where we will dis-cover the stories behind the 1862 battle of Chancellorsville and the mortal wounding of Stonewall Jackson. We will tour Ellwood Plantation where Stonewall Jackson was taken after he was shot. From here we will head to Gettysburg where we will have dinner and overnight.

Day 5: GettysburgToday will be filled with touring Gettysburg sites- seeing the famous Cyclorama, new film and museum at the visitor center before heading onto the Battlefield with a licensed guide. In the afternoon we will visit Seminary Ridge Museum, a pivotal spot that was used as a hospital during the battle. Afterwards we will hop a shuttle to Eisenhower National Heritage Site for a tour of the house and grounds. That evening we will have dinner at the Dobbins house before settling down to sleep.

Day 6: Shenandoah Valley On our last day of touring we will leave Gettysburg and start heading south. On our trek down the Shenandoah Valley we will visit New Market Battlefield, where in May 1864 250 young cadets (15-17 years old) from the Virginia Military Institute fought for the very first time and died. We will stop by some wineries and will end up in Roanoke, VA for the night.

Day 7: GeorigaReturn home.
