Habitat

My home is the wetlands, fresh water ponds, marshes,

riversand swamps. I build my

nest out of wet grass and plants

and dirt. I am mainly found in Louisiana and

Florida. You’ll also find me in South Texas, N and S

Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.

enough andindependent to go in the

wild.

Natural enemies

I am the biggest and most deadliest in my habitat so

I have no natural enemies. If I do ever feel

threatenedI will use my giant tail and big teeth for defence I can swim away quickly. I

can warn other males with my

deep -toned roar.

Page 8: American Alligator

Are you endangered?

Yes, I am threatened because people have

killed 10 million of my kind for our

skin. With sea levels rising

there is too much saltwater, I need fresh

water. Also, my kind were hunted for

meat before 1970.
