    THE AMENDMENTS TO THE REGULATION OF R 2009 FOR B.ARCH PROGRAMME INUNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT. (Merging 18th and 19thBoard of Studies)

    R 2009 B.ARCH PROGRAMME

    9.0 END SEMESTER EXAMINATION

    8.3 STUDIO COURSES COMPRISING

    OF BASIC DESIGN ANDARCHITECTURAL DESIGNContinuous internal assessment forstudio courses comprising of BasicDesign and Architectural Design shallbe done jointly by the course facultyand visiting faculty for a weightage of70% of the total marks. 20% of thecontinuous internal assessment markswould be reserved for a compulsorytime problem (s).

    8.3 STUDIO COURSES COMPRISING OF

    BASIC DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURALDESIGNContinuous internal assessment for studiocourses comprising of Basic Design and

    Architectural Design shall be done jointly bythe course faculty and visiting faculty for aweightage of 60%of the total marks. 20% ofthe continuous internal assessment markswould be reserved for a compulsory timeproblem (s).

    8.6.2 Continuous internal assessment for

    the thesis shall be done by the ReviewCommittee for a Weightage of 70% ofthe total marks.

    8.6.2 Continuous internal assessment for the thesis

    shall be done by the Review Committee for aWeightage of 60% of the total marks.

    9.4 For Studio courses comprising ofBasic Design and ArchitecturalDesign, Viva -Voce Examinations forall Design Projects shall be conductedat the end of the Semester by twoexternal examiners appointed by theHOD and approved by the Chairman,FAP for a weightage of 40% of thetotal marks. 20% of the Viva Voce

    Examination Marks shall be reservedfor the compulsory time problem.

    9.4 For Studio courses comprising of BasicDesign and Architectural Design, candidatesshall submit final presentationdrawings/models for viva voceexamination on the date of submission asfixed by the Class Committee andapproved by the HOD of Architecture.Viva-Voce Examinations for all DesignProjects shall be conducted at the End of the

    Semester by two external examinersappointed by the HOD and approved by theChairman, FAP for a weightage of 40% of thetotal marks. 20% of the Viva VoceExamination Marks shall be reserved for theCompulsory time problem.

    9.7 For Architectural Thesis, a Viva VoceExamination shall be conducted by a

    jury appointed by the HOD andapproved by the Chairman, FAP,consisting of two external examinersoutside the review committee for a

    weightage of 40% of the total marks.The HOD/Thesis Coordinator andSupervisor shall be present for theViva Voce Examination.

    9.7 For Architectural Thesis, candidates shallsubmit final thesis drawings, models andthesis reports within 30 calendar daysfrom the last working date of thesemester. The Viva Voce Examination shallbe conducted by a jury appointed by the HOD

    and approved by the Chairman, FAP,consisting of two external examiners outsidethe review committee for a weightage of 40%of the total marks. The HOD/ThesisCoordinator and Supervisor shall be presentfor the Viva Voce Examination.

    10.2 For a studio course comprising ofBasic Design and ArchitecturalDesign the weightage is as follows:Continuous Internal

    Assessment : 70 % of the total marksViva -VoceExamination: 30% of the total marks

    10.2 For a studio course comprising of BasicDesign and Architectural Design theweightage is as follows:Continuous Internal : 60 % of the total marks

    AssessmentViva -VoceExamination: 40 % of the total Marks

    10.2.1 A candidate who secures less than50% of the total marks prescribed forthe continuous internal assessment

    shall not be permitted to take the VivaVoce Examinations at the end of theSemester

    10.2.2 A candidate who secures not lessthan 50% of the total marksprescribed for the studio courseswith a minimum of 50% of the totalmarks prescribed for the continuousinternal assessment and a minimumof 50% of the total marks prescribedfor the viva voce examination shall

    be declared to have passed in theexamination.

    10.2.1 A candidate shall be declared to havepassed in Studio based courses, BasicDesign and Architectural Design providedhe/she satisfies the following conditions:(i) Obtained a minimum of 50% in the viva -

    voce examinations.(ii) Obtained a minimum of 50% of the total

    marks prescribed for the studio

    i.e, internal marks and viva voceexamination marks put together.

    10.2.3 If a candidate fails to secure a pass inthe studio courses comprising of BasicDesign and Architectural Design,he/she shall repeat the course whenin session next until he/ she secures apass in it. He/ She will not bepermitted to move to the next highersemester.

    10.2.2 If a candidate fails to secure a pass in thestudio courses comprising of Basic Designand Architectural Design, he/ she shallresubmit an improved Portfolio for anarrear viva voce examination conductedalong with the end semester examinationsand continue to appear for the arrear vivavoce examination till he/she secures a passin that course. (Ref. Clause 12.1) The

    internal marks shall be valid for all arrearattempts

    In case, a candidate fails to secure thetotal passing minimum of 50% (i.e. internalmarks and viva-voce marks put together)prescribed for the studio the Basic designand Architectural design the candidate mayre-register when the course is offered next,secure fresh internal assessment andsubmit the design as in the case of a regularcandidate.

    10.2.3 The candidate can appear for thesupplementary viva voce examination for amaximum of two times failing which he/shewill not be permitted to move the next highersemester till he/she secures a pass in theviva-voce examinations for that course. (Ref.Clause 12.1)

    10.4 For Architectural thesis, theweightage of marks is as follows:

    Internal Assessmentby Review Committee : 70 % of the

    total marksViva Voce Examination : 30 % of the

    total marks

    10.4 For Architectural thesis, the weightage ofmarks is as follows:Internal Assessment : 60 % of thetotal marksby Review CommitteeViva Voce Examination : 40 % of the total marks

    10.4.1 A candidate who secures less than50% of the marks prescribed for thecontinuous internal assessment shallnot be permitted to submit the thesisand take the Viva Voce Examinationsat the end of the Semester.He/She shall join the course when insession next and secure fresh internalassessment marks.

    10.4.2 A candidate who secures not lessthan 50% of the total marksprescribed for Architectural Thesiswith a minimum of 50% of the totalmarks prescribed for the continuousinternal assessment and a minimumof 50% of the total marks prescribedfor the viva voce examination shall bedeclared to have passed in theexamination.

    10.4.1 A candidate shall be declared to havepassed in Architectural Thesis providedhe/she satisfies the following conditions:(i) Obtained a minimum of 50% in the vivavoce examinations.(ii) Obtained a minimum of 50% of the totalmarks prescribed

    10.4.3 If a candidate fails to secure a passin Architectural thesis, havingobtained less than 50% for the vivavoce Examination, he/she shallimprove the thesis on the same topicon the lines suggested by the juryand resubmit the same in the

    subsequent semester. In such cases,the continuous internal assessmentalready secured by the candidateshall remain valid. The resubmittedthesis shall be accessed through aviva voce examination as in the caseof a regular candidate.

    10.4.2 If a candidate fails to secure a pass inArchitectural thesis, having obtained lessthan 50% for the viva voce Examination,he/she shall improve the thesis on the sametopic on the lines suggested by the jury andresubmit the same in the subsequentsemester. In such cases, the continuous

    internal assessment already secured by thecandidate shall remain valid. The resubmittedthesis shall be assessed through a viva voceexamination as in the case of a regularcandidate.

    In case, a candidate fails to secure thetotal passing minimum of 50% (i.e. internalmarks and viva-voce marks put together)prescribed for the Architectural thesis, thecandidate may re-register, when the course isoffered next, secure fresh internalassessment and submit the thesis as in the

    case of a regular candidate.

    10.4.4 If a candidate however wishes tochange the topic of ArchitecturalThesis in case of a failure (vide clause10.4.3),he/ she shall join the coursewhen in session next, get the topicapproved, secure fresh internalassessment and submit the thesis asin the case of a regular candidate.

    10.4.3 If a candidate however wishes to change thetopic of Architectural Thesis in case of afailure (vide clause 10.4.2),he/ she shall jointhe course when in session next, get thetopic approved, secure fresh internalassessment and submit the thesis as in thecase of a regular candidate.

    10.4.5 The thesis shall be submitted within

    30 calendar days from the lastworking day of the semester.

    10.4.4. The thesis shall be submitted within

    30 calendar days from the last working day ofthe semester.

    12.1 A candidate of the B.Arch. shall moveto the next higher semesters II, III, IV,V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X, only if he/she passes in the Basic Designcourse/ Architectural Design course/Internship programme of the previoussemester.

    12.1 A candidate of the B.Arch. shall move to thehigher semester if he/she satisfies thefollowing conditions.To move to:(i) III semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9106 Basic Design(ii) IV semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9157 Architectural Design I(iii) V semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9207 Architectural Design II(iv) VI semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9257 Architectural Design III(v) VII semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9306 Architectural Design IV(vi) VIII semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9356 Architectural Design V(vii) IX semester, a pass is required in

    AD 9401 Internship Program I.
