ORDINANCE NO 2012-0-182
AMENDING CHAPTER 2S OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF lAREDO, ENTITLED PLUMBING BY AMENDING SECTION:
2S-3 THEREBY ADOPTING THE 2012 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PLUMBING CODE, 2S-6 INTERNATIONAL FUEL GAS CODE, THEREBY ADOPTING THE 2012 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL FUEL GAS CODE, 2S-7 PRIVATE DISPOSAL CODE, THEREBY ADOPTING THE 2012 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE SEWAGE DISPOSAL CODE;
AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND /OR PARTS OF ORDINANCE IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council passed Plumbing Ordinance in the past and need to adopt the most updated Plumbing Codes in order to maintain high standards: and
WHEREAS, the provisions of the plumbing code and standards will serve to protect the life and property of the citizens of Laredo; and
NOW THEREFORE BY IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Laredo that:
Section 1. Code Adopted
Chapter 25, Section 25-3. Code-Adopted There is hereby adopted by and for the city the (~) 2012 edition of the International Plumbing Code, as recommended by the International Code Council, Inc., which is published in loose-leaf form, one (1) copy ofwhich is filed in the Building Development Service office and designated as the International Plumbing as set out herein in full.
Section 2. Code Adopted
Chapter 25, Section 25-6. Code-Adopted There is hereby adopted by and for the city the (~) 2012 edition of the International Fuel Gas Code, as recommended by the International Code Council, Inc., which is published in loose-leaf form, one (1) copy of which is filed in the office ofthe Building Development Service and designated as the International Fuel Gas Code including appendices A, B, C, D, and all made a part of this chapter as if set out herein in full.
Chapter 25, Section 25-7. Code-Adopted
There is hereby adopted by and for the city the(~) 2012 edition of the International Private Sewage Disposal Code, including Appendices A & B. as recommended by the International Code Council, Inc., which is published in loose-leaf form, one (1) copy of which is filed in the office ofthe City Building Development Service and designated as the International Private Sewage Disposal Code including Appendices A, B, and all made a part of this chapter as if set out herein in full.
Section 4. That the City Secretary is hereby ordered and directed to cause this Ordinance to be published.

Section 5. That this Ordinance and the rules, regulations, provisions, requirements, orders and matters established and adopted hereby shall take effect and be in full force and effective the date of its publication pursuant to Section 2.09(D) of the City Charter.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On October 15, 2012 the City Council held a public hearing and introductory ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinance of the City of Laredo
The 2009 edition of the International Plumbing Code relating to plumbing was adopted 09-21-2009.
BACKGROUND: International Code Council (ICC) updates building and related codes approximately every three years. They also publish standards, which, if adopted, provide additional guidance in the regulation of structure and development. It is the City's practice to review the newest edition of the International Codes and to update the adopted versions.

Staff recommends that City Council approve this ordinance.
