1963 - Degree in Naval and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Genova (Italy) 1963-72 - work with Exon in the field of oil pipelines 1973-80 – activity with personal enterprises in the field of land and marine pipelines, in

Italy and abroad From 1980 to present - activity through temporary association with colleagues or

engineering companies/contractors for land and marine projects; consultant to international pipe producers; operativity as free lance consultant and professional engineer in cooperation with Engineering Companies and Contractors on large diameter sealine project

February 2015 – Establishment of AME in Saif Zone, Sharjah

CARLO AVANZINI

SUMMARY OF KEY PROFESSIONAL DATES AND EXPERIENCES

Materials used in the projects: Steel up to ND 2200 Polyethylene - HDPE, extruded, up to ND 2500 Polyethylene (HDPE, structured, produced on mandrel, up to 3300 OD) GRP in 3 different types (cross FW, Hoop FW, centrifugal) up to ND 4000

For the environmental and hydraulic aspects of sealines, AME avails itself of the experience of Dr. Paul Akar (Beirut, Lebanon) as well of the experience of other

colleagues for specialized aspects of the projects.

MAIN PROJECTS

After the parenthesis in the oil P/L field, the activity from 1972 was directed to studies, surveys, design and construction of outfalls.Documentation up to 1985 is not any more available .

An early project: outfall from sugar factory, Silifke, Turkey Steel 900mm x 900m (1985)

ISTANBUL BALTALIMANI OUTFALL(1989)Steel, 2 x 1727,2.2mm, 300m long to -73m depth

Twin pipes launched with short ramp in 2 sections joined by rubber flexible joints.

Bottom pull from opposite side of Bosphorus at 1200m distance with a cable deviation block midway on the

bottom at -75m depth.

MERSIN GRP DIFFUSER REPAIR (2010)Extensive damages to the diffuser.Pipe brought to land, cleaned and partially recovered. The diffuser was reassembled keeping as much as possible the riser distance. The missing length was compensated with a long steel compression coupling.

It has been interesting to see that there have been a minimum fouling of the internal surfaces.Only local limpets groups vere present.
