Mr Andrew J Peterson has more than 18 years working experience in the manufacturing sector. His major achievements were he spearheaded and lead the quality management systems in SMI and also multi national companies which achieved multiple quality standards such as ISO9001, AS9100, TL9000, TS16949, ISO13485, OHSAS18001 and ISO14001. All these standards were achieved upon 1st round audits by 3rd Party Certification Bodies. He also provides end to end consultancy services for clients seeking these services (these includes all procedures and training required to achieve certification). He works closely with Certification Bodies to assure success.

His years of experience in the different Industries of which included Lead-frame, Semiconductors, Printed Circuit Board Assembly & Connector Components Manufacturing coupled with his hands-on approach to solving problems has made him spot on when dealing with critical issues. He has sound knowledge on problem solving methodologies and uses relevant quality tools to ensure permanent solutions are implemented.

5 Whys & Fault Tree Analysis (is an in-depth analysis method to enable an organization to achieve higher levels of performance excellence in the area of effective problem solving).

7 QC Tools (are basic quality tools for problem solving activities. This training will explain how to utilise the quality tools, how to adapt a systematic approach to problem solving and standardise problem solving methodology).

Control Plan (a plan that records all processes that are carried out for a product or a group of products; this provides a systematic guideline on the processes, inspections, documents etc of a product).

Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagram Analysis (a root cause analysis method that encourages teamwork based on the 4M, 1E elements. It explains the Cause and Effect Diagram and how to derive at the root causes of a problem using team approach during problem solving activities).

GR&R (Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility consists of quantifying the measurement variation between the appraiser (reproducibility) and equipment (repeatability).

Lean Manufacturing (Lean is a production strategy in which all parts of the production system are focused to eliminate waste while continuously increasing the percentage of value-added work, and improving production line smoothness).

APQP (is a systematic New Product Introduction (NPI) process from start until mass production. This provides smooth introduction of new products. This topics should be understood in the broader perspective of a New Product Development rather than as a technique).

FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect(s) Analysis is a structured method to study a design or processthat seeks to anticipate and minimize unwanted performance or unexpected failures. This method allows the user to categorize and rate potential failures by severity, probability of occurrence and ability to detect a potential failure.

MSA (Measurement System Analysis is a process used to standardize the methods of analysis to ensure and demonstrate that your measuring systems have adequate resolution, are not bias and may have a small amount of variability).

PPAP (Production Part Approval Process must be in conformance to a product and manufacturing process approval procedure approved by the customer. Product approval should be subsequent to the verification of the manufacturing process).

SPC (Statistical Process Control appropriate for each process shall be determined during advance quality planning and included in the control plan. Basic statistical concepts such as variation, stability and process capability shall be implemented throughout the organization to ensure its effectiveness).

Poke Yoke (is a Japanese slang for “avoiding inadvertent errors” which was formalized by Shigeo Shingo. Poka yoke or mistake proofing is the use of process or design features to prevent errors or their negative impact).

TPM (Total Productive Maintenance is a systematic approach to understanding the equipment’s relationship to product quality and the likely cause and frequency of failure of critical equipment components. Under the TPM concept, reducing equipment breakdowns without increasing the total cost of maintenance is achievable).

Kaizen (is derived from a Japanese word - “kai” meaning change and “zen” meaning change for the good. It should be a way of life in an organization for improvement of both processes and people on a never-ending basis.

QCC is a small group of frontline employees who meet regularly to try to improve the quality of their work. They identify problems in their workplace, usually related to product quality and together they set about finding a solution.

PSDM is the act of defining a problem; determining the cause of the problem; identifying, prioritizing and selecting alternatives for a solution for implementation. This course is designed to introduce participants to problem solving and decision making techniques using various tools. Participants will be guided step by step on how to use these tools and techniques. Simple to more complex examples will be provided for clear understanding. They will be required to identify problems in their workplace and set about finding a solution.

PDCA is designed to introduce participants to PLAN-DO-CHECK-ACT Cycle (PDCA / Shewhart / Deming Cycle) using various tools and techniques. Participants will be guided step by step on how to use these tools and techniques. Simple to more complex examples will be provided for clear understanding. Real life case studies will be assigned to participants to practise what they have learned.
