HOME LEARNING GUIDANCE – Monday 1 st -5 th June 2020 Ahoy, me hearties! What fabulous weather we have had this half term; we hope you have all managed to enjoy a little bit of the sunshine! If you haven’t guessed already, we have chosen a Pirate theme for our work this week. There are 3 tasks set for each day – one for English, one for Maths and one for the wider curriculum. We will upload ALL the supporting resources for the WHOLE WEEK to the Year 4 ‘Learning at Home’ page of our school website. We will also post them on class Dojo DAILY. In putting this work together, we came across some fabulous pirate jokes. Here is a great one: Q) Why can’t pirates learn the alphabet? A) Because they spend years at “C”! If you know any pirate jokes then please do share them along with the rest of your wonderful work. We really do love seeing what you have been up to, and it is a great way to stay connected. Class Dojo really does works best if both your parent account and your child’s accounts are used and activated; please do let us know if you need help with logging in with either of these. Farewell landlubbers, Ms Moore, Mrs Clifford and Mrs Armitage ENGLISH Monday – Famous Pirates Research Watch the powerpoint attached about famous pirates. Can you now find out more about pirate life, and conduct further research to learn more about one of these pirates, or a different one! Here are some questions that you might consider when conducting your research: Did he/she have more than one name? When/where were they born? When/how did they die? What are they famous for? Can you find out any more interesting facts? Wednesday – Expanded Noun PhrasesPlease watch the powerpoint attached and complete some (there are lots!) of the activities so that you are ready for tomorrow’s lesson. You may remember working on expanded nouns during our Viking Longship week, but here is a recap:Expanded noun phrases must have an adjective (describing word) to describe a noun (naming word). They may also include a prepositional phrase (to give extra detail). For example: a deep red scar across his face.
