Boot Camp at Bethany…Training for the Army of God

Philemon 1:2 Philippians 2:25

2 Timothy 2:3

We are soldiers of Christ.A Spiritual army deployed by God to contend with Evil.

Basic Training:You’ve been Recruited…now it’s time for Basic Training.Basic training is a place where recruits are trained for the armed forces of the United States.

When it’s over, they discover some amazing things. Sharp mind Fit Body Confident Abilities

The same is true of us as Christians

Joined _______________John 17:21

You are only as good as your unit—You and the group you arrive with will be treated as one.

Deeper ___________________________Discipleship—Soldiers are made… not born

2 Timothy 2:3

Endure hardness—“Suffer Affliction” / Exposure to the elements of harm. Endure is a word we don’t live very

much anymore—too many, instead of enduring, we quit.

There is a relationship between suffering and reward—worth having=work getting.

Stronger __________________2 Timothy 2:4. A true soldier does not entangle himself with the things that plague the average citizen.

You will no longer be an average civilian, you will be a soldier—We are soldiers of the cross. A soldier does not entangle himself with things outside of army life. (We worship everything except God)

Entangles himself—to weave in, to entwine1 Timothy 2:8

Trained ________________________Drill—hand to hand—close quarter—combat—obstacle course...

Recruits in most modern militaries are taught drill to teach them how to work and move as a team.

Ephesians 4:11-131 Timothy 4:7-11

A military drill is memorizing certain actions through repetition until the action is instinctive to the soldiers being drilled

Engaged ___________________

Rules of engagement— responses that are permitted in the employment of military personnel during operations or in the course of their duties

1 Peter 3:15

Are you becoming a Good Soldier of the Cross?
