Having appeared in many different professional settings, violinist Jeffery F. Kazukiewicz '96 is currently performing with Princeton Chamber Symphony, Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra, and Garden State Philharmonic. Prior to these orchestras, Mr. Kazukiewicz had been active with Akron Symphony, P.A.N.D. Symphony led by Steven Smith (Cleveland Orchestra), Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Fredonia Chamber Players, Binghamton Symphony as well as many others. Additionally, he performed as a member of the Brevard Festival Orchestra at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Kazukiewicz has also appeared as a guest soloist numerous times performing such works as the Tchaikowsky violin concerto, Tzigane by Ravel, Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 as well as winning the Ithaca College Concerto Competition with Meditation of Thais by Jules Massenet. This past July, Mr. Kazukiewicz, in conjunction with Maestro Russell Stanger, instituted an alumni program at the School for Orchestral Studies in Saratoga, New York. While there, Messrs. Kazukiewicz and Alfred premiered a sonata for violin and piano by Ludwig Diehn and made a live archival recording. Recently, Mr. Kazukiewicz appeared as an alumni soloist with the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra performing Tzigane by Ravel.

In addition to the classical world Mr. Kazukiewicz is the violinist for the Grammy nominated Jan Lewan Orchestra, performing regularly at such venues as Trump Taj Majal. Mr. Kazukiewicz has recorded four albums with the Jan Lewan Orchestra and recently released two new recordings, one of which is dedicated to Polish Christmas.

He is also active in the scene of Off-Broadway shows working along side of Steven Sondheim (composer & lyricist) and Arthur Laurents (author of the text in West Side Story) in the revival of Do I Hear a Waltz by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Mr. Kazukiewicz, currently age 26, began violin studies at the age of 7 in Buffalo, New York under Nancy Ulrich Benz and Frances Bagdol Kaye. At age 14, he received the Town Proclamation Award for "Highest Commitment to the Arts." He continued m to earn his bachelor's degree from Ithaca College under Pamela Gearhart and Debra Moree and his master's degree from the University of Akron where he was the teaching assistant to Alan Bodman.

Additionally, Mr. Kazukiewicz has held the position of concertmaster for fourteen consecutive years with several orchestras and has performed many of the great orchestral solos such as Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov, Symphony No. 4 of Mahler and the Pulcinella Suite

of Stravinsky. While at Ithaca College, Mr. Kazukiewicz performed as concerbnaster of the chamber and symphony orchestras, and was the youngest student to earn such a position at the school. As an active chamber music player, he was the former first violinist of the Marini String Quartet.

Messrs. Kazukiewicz and Alfred are currently engaged to perform in Cleveland as well as Buffalo. The performance in Buffalo will be broadcast, in its entirety, on radio station WBOF 88.7 on March 5, 2000.

Jason R. Alfred '96, piano, received his Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and master's degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. His teachers have included Phiroze Mehta and Paul Schenly. He enjoys a busy concert schedule as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and chamber musician. He was the first prize winner of the first Biennial Lee Piano Competition. In Cleveland, he teaches piano at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, and frequently performs with the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Furthering his second love, opera, he is also a pianist with the Cleveland Opera.
