Stephen McCarthy ’71 is an executive producer of “Insiders Peak,a 90-minute documentary of the iconic NYC retail emporium, Bergdorf Goodman. is feature-length film, a celebration of the company’s 111 th anniversary, explores the history of the store, family, designers, windows and much more in a compelling and critically acclaimed program. Stephen is also taking a lead role in developing and funding the 2014 release of a similar film on Tiffany’s celebrating their 175 th anniversary. Bill Minutaglio ‘73 is a professor of journal- ism at e University of Texas at Austin and has been named one of the “Outstanding Teachers” in the state-wide university system. His eighth book, Dallas 1963, will be released this fall. Dave Maloof ’76, long recog- nized as a “super lawyer” in his field of international shipping law, has recently been travelling for another reason. He and his family have been developing recreational facilities for children at a refugee camp in Lebanon. As a result of his work, he has been consulted by both the State Department and the White House. Most recently, in honor of his work, Pax Christi Metro New York has created an annual Maloof Family Young Peacemakers Award competi- tion for Catholic high school students in the New York metropolitan area. Bro. Michael McAward ’76 has served for the past seven years in Rome, Italy, as Secretary General of the Marianists. He was recently designated to serve for the coming five years as Head of Temporalities (i.e. finances) for the Society of Mary. As such he will be one of the four major superiors of the Marianists. Frank L. Kurre ’81 was recently elected to the Partnership Board of Grant ornton, LLP, one of the six global accounting firms. Grant ornton LLP’s Partnership Board is the governing body of the firm. e Partner- ship Board consists of ten members elected by the Firm’s partners for three-year terms and the Firm’s Chief Executive Officer. Frank, his wife Francesca and their four children reside in Manhasset Hills, New York. Chase Riley ’70 recently retired from his chiropractic practice in County Louth, Ireland, and has relocated to his wife’s home country of the Philippines. In commemoration of Lt. Karopczyc’s heroic death, the Village of Bethpage unveiled and dedicated a beautiful monument (shown above) on June 15, 2013. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Karopczyz, as well as other family members were present for the ceremony, which included Bro. omas Cleary ’81 as one of the speakers.

Joseph Galante ’84 serves as assistant comptroller for strategic planning to NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, andresides in Mineola, NY.

Michael Duke ’85 and his wife Laurie Ann adopted Guiliana Rose on April 14, 2013. Guliana was born on September 23, 2011 in Fujian Province, China, and was welcomed to the Duke family on April 23, 2013.

Matthew Erickson ’88 recently had a novel published by the name of InternationalHarvester. The book is an unusual and interesting approach to the current problem of the black marketing of human body parts for transplant. The publisher is Damnation Books, LLC of Santa Rosa, CA. Christopher Meyers ’92 was promoted to Lt. Col. in the US Marine Corps on June 3, 2013. Chris is at the Pentagon in theProgram Development Office.

Robert H. Wauters ’01 graduated from UMDNJ - New Jersey Medical School this May, and was promoted to Lt. in the United States Navy. He is now on full-time active duty in the Navy as a resident in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He and his wife, Erin, live in Silver Spring, MD.

Paul Delia ’03 graduated from theRutgers Business School MBA pro-gram with a concentration in finance and global business. He was promoted to account manager at the The Ayco Company, L.P., a Goldman Sachs company.

William Sullivan ’04 is one of this year’s Founder’s Medalists for the

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He graduated with a doctor of medicine and a master of education. Billy is the first Vanderbilt student to pursue joint M.D. and M.Ed. degrees. He notes, “Being an academic physician is the perfect opportunity for me to engage both students and patients as learners. In seeking to develop rigorous ex-pertise as an educator, the decision to pursue a master’s degree in education after my third year of medical school was a natural one.” He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and as a CurriculumCommittee co-chair, helped plan the new Vanderbilt University School of Medicine curriculum. Billy coordinated patient care and education at the student-run Shade Tree Clinic and served as a leader of a non-profit organization supporting secondary education in rural Kenya. He will continue his training in the combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program at Vanderbilt beginning in July.

Kevin Lubrano ’05 graduated from theUniversity of Arizona at Tuscon with a mas-ter’s in classical history. He will move on to the University of Michigan, where he received a fellowship to continue his Ph.D.

Joseph Gambino ’06 graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center. He also received the highly credited federal legislation committee award for the highest grade in the clinic. He will be taking his bar exam this summer.

MikeCatapano’08 was recentlydrafted to the Kansas City Chiefs. He was the first pick of the seventh round.

Patrick Gillespie ’08 is running for Town of Hempstead 4th District Councilman. He is pursuing his master’s degree in history at St. John’s University, and works for the Town of Hempstead Board of Elections.

Gregory Lubrano ’08 graduated from Mol-loy College in 2012 as valedictorian of his class. He is working for his master’s degree at St. John’s University where he received a fellowship.

John DiMino ’09 graduated from M.I.T. on June 7, 2013 with a major in mechanical and ocean engineering and a minor in business management. He will be working for Lock-heed Martin in West Palm Beach, FL.

2nd Lt. John Joseph Runco USAF ’09 graduated cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical

engineering and a minor in sports psychol-ogy. He attained the Dean’s List for all of his undergraduate semesters. John is assigned to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Fr. Peter M. Folan, S.J. ’96 was one of seven ordained as Jesuit priests on June 8, 2013 in the Fordham University Church. On the following day, Fr. Peter celebrated his first Mass in his home parish of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Massapequa Park, NY. Anthony Truzzolino ’09 graduated fromthe University of Richmond on May 12, 2013. He has started a new position witha company in Virginia. Daniel Minervini ’11 has been selected as the 2013 ATOS Theatre Organ Student of the Year. He has been a student of JelaniEddington since 2009. He participatedin the 2009 ATOS Young Theatre Organist Competition and is a frequent attendeeat the ATOS Summer Youth Adventure.As an active member of the New YorkTheatre Organ Society, he regularly helpsthe work crew restore the 426 Wurlitzerat Long Island University.
