The automotive industry and its direct suppliers, the transportation and defence sectors, engineering and electrical technology as well as the construction and solar sectors benefi t from our extensive range of extrusion profi les. Our portfolio also offers the possibility of further processing through to semi fi nished and fi nished component manufacturing.

Our plant in Duffel (Belgium) concentrates on processing high-strength aluminum materials – particularly for the aerospace as well as automatic rapid-machinable alloys for automotive industry, which are delivered to customers world-wide.

The Chinese plant in Tianjin enables us to serve customers with local production on European standards. The rolling stock vehicle and automobile sectors are supplied with processed extrusions in the Asian region.

Our own foundries in Europe – also offering an extensive range of special alloys – offer our customers reliable technology and materials from a single source.

As the main supplier in numerous industry sectors and due to investments in modern production facilities, research and develop-ment, quality assurance and on-going further training as well as excellent employee qualifi cations, our extrusion operations have been able to acquire comprehensive experience and in-depth expertise with the result that Aleris products are subject to permanent improvement and processing levels are intensifi ed step by step.

In our European rolling mills, we manufac-ture aluminum products for a wide range of technically high demanding applications, including plates for the aerospace industry, coil and sheets for the area of heat exchanger engineering and the automotive industry as well as various other products for industrial engineering, building & construction, defence, shipbuilding and transport industries.

Aleris Recycling plants in Europe manufac-ture high-quality die-casting and wrought alloys from recycled aluminum and magnesium alloys for the automotive, technology and electronics sectors. Our conditioning and smelting plants enjoy an excellent reputation on the basis of effi cient and environmentally-friendly production infrastructure.

CUSTOMER PROXIMITY FOR AMBITIOUS INDUSTRIES PLANT BITTERFELD

In the heart of Germany and close to the requirements of Central and Eastern European markets: as one of the most traditional German extrusion sites, Aleris Bitterfeld unites extensive experience, in-depth expertise and state-of-the-art technologies when it comes to aluminum.

On this basis, a modern plant for the production of small and medium sized profi les as well as selected bars evolved near Leipzig in the 1990s. This was swiftly followed by the installation of two presses which were in turn supplemented at the end of the 20th century by new, modern equipment ensuring on-going improve-ments in quality for our customers.

In close co-operation with its customers, Aleris Bitterfeld manufactures high quality profi les and bars from aluminum billets for a wide range of applications. The comprehen-sive portfolio comprises all standard alloys representing the 6xxx and Cu-free 7xxx range as well as special customised products.

Located in the south of the Belgian port of Antwerp, Aleris Duffel is one of the most advanced producers of profi les and round bars made of medium- and high-strength aluminum alloys. With more than 50 years of expertise concerning aluminum as a material, the facility has become one of the leading development partners of the aerospace industry, the defence sector and the automotive industry.

Hard aluminum alloys play a major role in complex applications in aeroplanes and automobiles. Particular emphasis should be given to the AlEco62Sn alloy, a 100% lead-free alloy for machining applications.

Using its indirect 50 MN press, the Ebner horizontal solution annealing furnace and the 800-t stretcher, Aleris Duffel offers optimum production conditions for these tasks. Modern ageing furnaces allow the closest tolerances thereby guaranteeing high-end products.

With its extraordinary drawing force, the 800-t stretcher helps to minimize residual stresses for all hard alloys in order to

achieve close dimensional tolerances after machining.

These facilities enable international customers to procure aluminum profi les and bars with outstanding technological properties.

The company’s own cast house comprises ultra-modern smelting and casting machines. For example, exclusively channel induction furnaces are used for the smelting process which in turn ensures optimal homogeneity of the metal. This allows Aleris to guarantee the customers reliable technology from a single source supplier.

The wide range of hard aluminum alloys available from our own cast house sets the basis for the manufacturing of high-quality profi les and fi nished compo-nents with weight saving advantages, very easy to machine and represent a high degree of recyclability.

European technology and Chinesemanagement for complex technical applications South-east of Beijing, Tianjin is a key trade, industrial and transport hub in northern China. The city’s river port is regarded as one of the largest foreign trade ports the People’s Republic of China has to offer.

Customer and geographical proximity to production facilities play a decisive role in the Aleris philosophy. Consequently, the new extrusion plant for supplying the Asian market was built in Tianjin in 2000.

The factory specializes in producing medium and large profi les for rolling stock – more precisely for the aluminum wagon structures – and works with a powerful 55 MN press supplied in 1996 by Danieli from Italy and a 28 MN press installed in 2012. This is supplemented by parts for shipbuil-ding, offshore products, automotive safety component, valve bodies, pump and motor housings, electrical coolers, lamp sockets and other specialties.

The capacity of the presses adds up to 10,000 tonnes p.a.
