Alumeco can supply cast aluminium plates - EN AC 5083 precision milled on both sides with protective foil. Plates can

be supplied in thickness up to 80 mm.

Aluminium alloy 5083 has long been preferred for

the manufacturing of plates that have to meet

high demands. Plates in aluminium alloy 5083

are especially used for mould tools, machine construction,

precision engineering, space industry, aviation industry

and more. All these sectors need the high strength, good

machining properties and seawater resistance provided by

alloy 5083.

Alumeco stocks aluminium alloy EN-AW 5083 plates in standard

dimensions. EN AC-5083, which has the same chemical and anti-

corrosion properties as EN-AW 5083, is available in blocks from

the mill in the following standard dimensions detailed below:

The advantage of EN AC-5083 is that plates in

this alloy can be sawed out in precise dimensions

from a block, because our modern machinery can

saw blocks on all six sides. As a result, we can deliver every

conceivable dimension in thicknesses ranging from 10 to 1,000

mm, up to a maximum width of 1,180 mm and a maximum

length of 3,100 mm. This eliminates waste!

In addition to square plates, we can also offer

short leadtimeson:1)Sawndiscswithamaximum

diameter of 1500 mm (-0/+5 mm) and minimum

diameterof155mm(-0/+5mm).2)Sawnringswithamaximum

outer diameter of 1500 mm (-0/+5 mm) and a minimum

innerdiameterof 160mm (+0/-5mm)and a maximum inner

diameterof1450mm(+0/-5mm). This applies all the way up to

a maximum plate thickness of 400 mm.

Duetothehighcontentofmagnesium(4.5%)and

manganese (0.7%), the alloy is highly corrosion

resistant and also well-suited for welding. As this

product is cast, it has no strip tension caused by rolling,

resulting in plates that are well-suited for machining. Also,

the plates will not warp, making it possible to achieve a high

sawing speed with good tolerances.

The standard material is available with 3.1

certification according to EN 10204:2004, which

specifies the alloy composition. This material is also

available on request with full mechanical test certificates.

The sawing is in full swing. A block usually weighs 5 to 7 tonnes.

Our machinery can also handle the sawing of round plates or disks out of an aluminium block.
