•Web Host Features–Disk Space – how many pictures do you have?–Email accounts – do you need one or more?–Special programs – sell, forms, calendars, etc.–Editing tools for easy web page creation.

•Optional – why would you want to?

–Easier to remember name – i.e. altrusadallas.org vs altrusadallas.tripod.com

•Why wouldn’t you want to?–$$$$ - usually $35 per year

•Register your domain name•Search internet for “domain name registration”•Examples:

–Register.com–Networksolutions.com

•Pay up front for one year or several years

•Transfer web page files to your web site host computer

•Web Pages follow format that browsers can read. (Internet Explorer is a browser)

•Files typically end in .html – but if they’re not formatted correctly, browsers won’t display them.

•Microsoft Word – Save AS Web Page–Will do all the formatting

•FrontPage•Wordpad/Notepad – if you know how to format

Transfer Web Page Files

•The files that make up your web site have to be on the computer that is your web site host

–FTP–Email to someone at the Web Host–Create directly on the Web Host
