Alternative Credit Overview

• Students can earn credit for – Professional work experience; – Professional licenses; – Articulation agreements (statewide and local)– Approved apprenticeship, career & technical/vocational

education coursework; – Approved industry certifications/ credentials; and – Approved nationally recognized exams

• All alternative credit must have official documentation that verifies completion of training, coursework and/or possession of licensure/certifications.

• For non-credit experiences validated by an organization via transcripts, valid certifications, valid licenses or other approved credentials

• Students receive credit if they completed a 700-hr PSAV/ Apprenticeship program w/ GPA of 2.0 or equivalent

• Equivalent Rubric– Completed in the School of Workforce– Combo of Conversion of Credit & APLE (documentation file)– Includes 5 categories w/ assigned points – Minimum of 50 points to receive credit

• High School Career Pathways Articulation Agreements

– Allows eligible HS graduates to receive credit for designated DSC courses

– Eligibility requirements• GPA 3.0 AND• Successfully complete designated HS Career Courses AND• Possession of relevant industry certification OR• Passage of corresponding, DSC assessment

– Existing agreements• Volusia School District – Computer Science (COP1000)• Lake Co. School District – Computer Science, Drafting, Information
