The fern is a sporophyte. On the

underside of its leaves (fronds)

there are the SPORANGIA which

produce SPORES.

Mature spores fall tothe ground

and as they germinate they form

GAMETOPHYTES, which have

sexual organs that produce

gametes.

The union of these gametes, or

FERTILISATION, creates a

ZYGOTE.

The development of the zygote

produces a new sporophyte.
