Alpha® Sliding Mat

The Alpha sliding mats reduce the frictional resistance while moving the patient. They are particularly helpful in easing patient transfers in bed, into the shower gurney, the wheel-chair etc. Depending on the patients functional capacities, the Alpha sliding mat also supports the chest and pelvis forpositioning and turning onto the side. Alpha sliding mats can also be used to transfer heavy patients, patients requiring special care and pre-medicated patients from a supine to a prone position.

Alpha® Turn SheetSet 3-parts

The turn sheet consists of three parts: a large fitted sheet which is placed on the mattress, a large sliding sheet and a non-slip mat. The upper side of the sliding sheet is made of cotton/natural ticking.

The turn sheet is used for pain-sensitive patients, heavy patients, and special care patients. Moving and laterally repositioning patients is made much easier. Rolling up the turn sheet against the patients body in a lateral position and then fixing it in place with a bed sheet provides simple and gentle lateral position support.

Alpha® Sliding Mat

The sliding mat is especially designed for patients who have to be repositioned frequently or who are par-ticularly sensitive to pain and respond any contact or movement with pain.

The sliding mat is particularly used in the bed for turn-ing or positioning a patient on their side or for movingthem to the top end. If the patient is unable to move with the sliding mat on their own, a fitted sheet can beplaced in the bed as a pull sheet.

The sliding mat has four strong straps at the top. Thesecan be used to fasten it to the slatted frame at the topof the bed, for example to prevent seated patients from slipping down from the bed. It covers the entire width of the bed and ¾ of its length.

Alpha® Turn SheetSet in several parts

This turn sheet was developed specially for patients who are particularly sensitive to pain. The processing of breathable textile products enables the patient to remain on the turn sheet on an ongoing basis. The hidden handles and loopsof the turn sheet make it possible for the carer to move thepatient freely and gently to the desired care situation in thebed. The turn sheet can be attached to the head of the bed or laterally to the slatted frame with the attachment straps provided. The stop strips additionally applied to the outside on the fitted sheet and the anti-slip mat provide the necessary safety. All forms of positioning, such as micro positioning or neutral positioning, are possible without effort and shearing forces. All positioning wedges can be placed between the two silk layers. This speeds up and simplifies even complex positioning processes. A transfer to mobile wheelchairsis also possible, simply by pulling the patient over. Support with a sliding board is recommended for this purpose. The turn sheet remains in the wheelchair following transfer and the return transfer can be done just as quickly without hassle.

Alpha® Slide SheetSet 2-parts

The slide sheet is a two-piece aid for reducing the friction when repositioning and moving patients while providing bedside nursing. It consists of a bottom sheet (200 x 90 cm) and a top sheet (200 x 140 cm). With the sliding surface facing up, place the bottom sheet lengthwise across the middle of the bed. Fix the two overhanging ends of the sheet smoothly underneath the mattress. Now place the top sheet with the sliding surface facing down. The top sheet can now be moved into any direction while bearing load. Place your palm between the patient and the sliding surface to gently support rotational or pulling movements.

Alpha® Support Belt

The support belt is made of padded nylon material with non-slip properties inside. It is placed round the patient’s and/or caregiver’s waist and closed with a buckle. The holding belt has a number of grips so the carer can control the flow of movement, for example when transferring a patient to a chair, and support insecure patients. The belt is also a reliable aid for walking. Unsteady patients, for example patients with circulation disorders, can be held properly without having to grab their arms.

The leg belt helps the transfer of a patient into a wheelchair, onto the toilet, a chair or car seat. The leg belt works well in combination with the sliding board, the turn table, the raising aids or the belt. It makes the transfer much more back-friendly for the caregiver, and easier and less intrusive for the patient. The leg belt is used when transferring a seated patient from a bed to a wheelchair or for similar low-level transfer situations. The leg belt facilitates the range of movement and significantly increases the safety of the transfer. The leg belt is gently placed around the legs of the seated patient, below knee level, and fastened with the Velcro fastener. The caregiver then gently places her/his own foot between the patients feet. During trans-fer, the leg belt locks into position according to the patients endurance and allows the caregiver to stabilize the rotation by placing light counter-pressure on the leg belt. The leg belt can be extended by the leg belt extension (50 cm).

Alpha® Lifting Mat

With the lifting mat it is possible to move a patient lying in bed towards the top end and onto the side, transfer a patient, e. g. from a bed to a shower stretcher, and lift up a patient who has fallen onto the floor. A heavy-duty sliding surface is sewn to the bottom of the transfer sheet. The sliding surface significantly decreases the frictional resist-ance between the patient and the transfer surface. The lateral sections can easily be folded inwards together with the handles, and with the patient positioned on his side, the transfer sheet can easily be placed under the patient. The inner section of the transfer sheet can be removed so that the transfer sheet can be washed or disinfected. Using the transfer sheet to have several people lift a supine patient from the floor is safer for the patient and friendlier for the backs of those doing the lifting.

The Petermann Merlin transfer aid, which can optionally be used with a support and/or looped belt, is a simple and safe is a simple and safe aid for assisting people with restricted mobility to stand up and change position. The Merlin transfer aid enables carers to transfer patients in an easier, energy-saving and back-friendly manner and it can also mobilise the remaining strength in the patient’s arms and legs, if applicable, and also give them a feeling of security. The ingenious design in con-junction with the smooth-running rollers allows a particularly safe and easy handling of the Merlin transfer aid. The Merlin raising aid assists with the support of a patientfor sitting and standing or for moving a patient into a wheelchair, onto the toilet or onto a chair. Alpha® Non-Slip Cushion

The non-slip-cushion is placed underneath the thighs of a patient seated in bed. A gentle and comfortable supporting and securing function is achieved through the anti-slip properties of the surface. It significantly prevents the patient from sliding into bed from a sitting position.

Alpha® Soft Turning Disc

The soft turning disc is a very simple aid that significantly facilitates lateral movements for seated patients, whether alone or with trusted help. For use in a bed, place the turn-ing disc centrally in the bed approx. 25 cm from the edge of the bed. You thus achieve an optimal lying position in the centre of the bed from the turning movement. While in the seating position on the bed always use the height adjust-ment of the bed to assist with your safety.

The evacuation sheet and mattress slide over the side of the bed and onto the floor.

Rescue situation: Pull both plugs of the belts out from under the mattress.

Pull the loose end of each belt as strongly as possible.

Grab the large handles of the evacuation sheet at head or leg side to pull the sheet together with the mattress from the bed.

If necessary, you can drag the patient down-stairs and into a safe area.

Evacuation SheetThe evacuation sheetis used in facilities with patients who are always bedridden. In a rescue situation the Petermann evacuation sheet can very easily and safely be dragged over floors, tiles, carpeting, down stairs and out of the hazardous area by a single person. By holding large belt grips at the top or bottom ends and at the centre of the two sides the mattress is pulled out of the bed and across the floor into a safe zone.
