Allstate Foundation Disaster Preparedness Toolkit
Contact Info | [email protected]
Overview Disasters affect nearly 1 million people each year and 85 percent of Americans are unprepared, according
to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Boost your reputation by helping your community get
ready with an Allstate Foundation Disaster Preparedness Kit-Building event. Build trusted relationships
with consumers, educate the public about the importance of being prepared for a disaster – and then
start the planning with a kit-building event for people in your community. As a company dedicated to
preparing people for life’s uncertainties, it’s a natural extension of The Allstate Foundation’s DNA.
Please note: You have the opportunity to order both options for a total of 60 kits.
What Can I Expect? Allstate Foundation Disaster Preparedness Toolkit: A box stocked with enough supplies to
assemble 20 or 40 disaster preparedness starter kits.
Contents include: Nylon drawstring bag to hold all contents, disaster preparedness guide, whistle,
dust mask, hand sanitizer, first aid kit, water bottle, rain poncho, emergency blanket and flashlight.
A toolkit guide for reference: This step-by-step guide helps you plan and implement your event.
Disaster preparedness guides: Helps attendees complete the contents of their kits and develop an
emergency plan.
Shipment Information: The kit will be shipped January 2017.
Benefits to my Agency Build your reputation and be seen as a trusted advisor in your community.
Reach customers, consumers and community leaders with messaging that shows you care.
Best Practices
Partner with a nonprofit organization on a kit-building event, like a Community Center; schools; Girl
Scout or Boy Scout Troops, etc. Or, host an event in your office or at a local festival or sporting event.
To reach more people, consider partnering with more agency owners in your community. Choose an
event date that makes sense for local disasters, and a time convenient to the audience.
Launch the event by sharing brief remarks about disaster preparedness. Wear an Allstate branded
shirt and display an Allstate pop-up banner or sign, if available. To maximize the education, you’ll
need a minimum of five “assistants” to explain the purpose of the kit’s contents. Share photos on
social media!
If you’ve volunteered four hours or more and your partner is a nonprofit organization, consider
inviting them to apply for a $1,000 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grant.

Best Practices People respond to authenticity, and nothing says that better than having your photo in every email you
send. With the Dynamic Email Signature, adding a photo to your emails is easy. Here are some tips:

best)
Outdoor photos and natural light work best

Purple Purse Kits
Contact Info | [email protected]
Overview Get involved. Join a growing number of agency owners using the award-winning Allstate Foundation
Purple Purse to help build local relationships and reputation.
One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. The number one reason victims stay
in or return to an abusive relationship is because they don’t have the financial resources to break free.
Launched in 2010, Allstate Foundation Purple Purse is a public awareness and fundraising campaign
aimed at creating long-term safety and security for victims. The symbol for the campaign is a purple purse
because a purse represents the center of a woman’s financial domain and purple is the national color for
domestic violence awareness.
Order your kits and start planning for events in March during Financial Literacy Month, or in October
during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, or any time of year.
Please note: You have the opportunity to order both kits.
What Can I Expect? Purple Purse “Purse-onalize” Your Community Kit: A complete toolkit with resources to activate
Allstate Foundation Purple Purse in your community and raise awareness about financial
empowerment for domestic violence survivors. Contents include:
o Roll of purple ribbon: To demonstrate one in four women are victims of domestic violence, tie a
purple ribbon around every fourth tree or streetlight in front of your building, your domestic
violence organization or other high traffic location. Attach the weather-proof tag that explains the
issue so passers-by can link to PurplePurse.com. Combine forces with other agency owners in
your community to maximize the impact. Work with the Community Involvement team on media
coverage.
o NEW Purple Purse Charms (25): Share this accessory and symbol of Purple Purse with your staff,
consumers and customers. Featuring a new, more durable design and updated card, it’s the
perfect addition to a handbag, gym bag or briefcase. Order an additional 25 per month for FREE
