Customized Facades and moreAllplan 2011 Architecture offers you a range of new functions for facade design: for easier and faster operation, the dialog guidance has been revised and standardized. Thanks to further development of the file structure, you can now easily create your own building blocks with customized objects. The automatic deduction of the axis width and the ability to assign facade textures also accelerate the design process. To enhance the building model even further, special modeling functions are provided. In addition to all types of facades, it is also possible to create formwork surfaces, half-timbered walls and trellises. Furthermore, three-point and four-point canopies provide the ability to create free-form, curved surfaces and bodies or to model soft object/terrain transitions. On the basis of a parametric modeler, 3D railings, fences and other evenly divided linear elements can be designed.

Faster image regenerationIn Allplan 2011 the graphics engine has been largely re-programmed and now uses the OpenGL graphics library, which is particularly suitable for CAD and visualization applications. In particular in projects with large data volumes, image regeneration is massively accelerated as a result. The new interactive calculation of hidden lines in the model is especially helpful for the designer. It allows architects to navigate in the hidden lines representation of their virtual building in real time. Even with 3D sections, calculation of hidden lines occurs in real time. In addition to the increased operating speed, the rendering of texts and graphics has also been significantly improved.

Optimized ergonomics provide an excellent overviewAllplan‘s ergonomics are improved with every new version. In order to maintain this long-term development goal, function, property and wizard palettes have been introduced as new user elements. The function palette combines the previous CAD navigator and associated „Create“,

„Create II“ and „Change“ toolbars clearly in one place. Through the property palette, differently designed dialogs are fused into a single, uniform user element. As a result, all parameters can be clearly entered in tabular form. Thanks to the wizard palette, working with predefined content such as Allplan IBD is noticeably faster and more convenient than before. In addition, the options dialog completely revised and simplified, now acts as the central hub for all program settings. In addition to personal settings, such as background color and crosshair size, the display rules, norms and office standards are also centrally administrated. The clearly laid out dialog facilitates intuitive operation.

Professional ReportsWith its new reports, Allplan 2011 offers comprehensive evaluations: for every task imaginable, there are predefined templates that have now been graphically redesigned and standardized. Another new tool that has been added is the very modern report viewer. This tool provides accurate print previews of your reports. Besides being printed or inserted into an Allplan project, you can also export reports in Excel or PDF format. The layout editor allows you to change settings such as font, color, borders, row height and column width or even incorporate bitmaps such as your company logo.

Efficient building alteration design Allplan 2011 enables efficient creation of reconstruction, demolition and building alteration plans as well as rapid calculation of quantities. This is possible thanks to the special CAD libraries, which are operated via graphical wizards. The libraries contain predefined objects with the necessary attributes for existing structures, demolition and new construction and, in addition to improved clarity; they ensure reduced organizational effort and uniform office standards.

Energy-efficient and sustainable construction Allplan 2011 provides you with numerous tools for energy consulting, from the designing of photo voltaic and solar thermal systems through to an energy indicator for rapid analysis of energy-related building redevelopment work. With the optional energy performance certificate module, you can derive energy-related and environmental appraisals based on specific regional standards (Germany, Austria, Italy and France) directly from the building model and hence create the legally required energy performance certificate.

Through the integrated Design2Cost solution, you get a reliable and clear quantity framework as well as a description of the construction work, including the building model. Plans are easily digitized and quantity calculations take place automatically. The results can be used immediately for cost calculations or quotes. Changes can be implemented at any time in the client’s documents. Changes requested by the client are integrated directly into the building model and thus also automatically into the quantities and costs. Hence, you can prepare several variants, including cost breakdowns, and compare them from different perspectives. Changes to the building model can be easily visualized for greater transparency.

Create appealing design documents With the 2011 version; designers have access to a range of new CAD objects and textures optimized for Allplan, which can be used to create attractive designs and models. To make searches particularly fast and efficient, all such content is available on the Internet. From the basic range available to all users of Allplan through to the libraries reserved especially for ServicePlus customers, you can search for predefined CAD data online and simply download and install it. Furthermore, all objects are assigned a country code, thus also enabling targeted searches for international projects.

New design and layout dialogsThe design and layout dialogs have had numerous improvements. These include extended dialogs for everything from lines, polygons and circles to text indicators with start and end symbols, as well as polygon design window support. The left/right alignment of elements or their division with equal spacing also helps to create plan layouts quickly.

State-of-the art input and control hardware such as, Space Navigator™ by 3Dconnexion, can be used for intuitive navigation through an object-oriented building model. Allplan is specially optimized and certified to be used with Space Navigator.

Open system for smooth communicationAllplan 2011 supports more than 50 file CAD formats such as DWG/ DXF 2010/2011 and DGN V8. Exchange favorites and template projects make the handling of common exchange situations particularly easy. Furthermore, the future-oriented IFC 2x3 and PDF formats facilitate inter-office communication with design partners and clients.

For importing and exporting PDF files, Allplan uses the original Adobe libraries. Hence, PDF files can be conveniently imported and exported using drag & drop. Regardless of which CAD system is used, the correct plan, scale and layers are retained. In addition, 3D PDFs can also be exported and imported. Hence, complete building models or details can be provided in a very clear, easy-to-understand way. All the design partner or client needs for interactive viewing is Adobe Reader, which is free to download.

For the long-term archiving of plans, Allplan provides the ability to export the ISO-standardized PDF/A format. For importing design models, the integrated interfaces for CINEMA 4D, Google SketchUp, Rhino, STL and VRML can be used.

Furthermore, the new version of Allplan supports the STL and SKP file formats. With these formats, 3D models can be produced using 3D printers or directly transferred into Google SketchUp or Google Earth. In addition, in Allplan 2011 colored designs can be output as grayscale PDFs.
