College Requirements to Maintain Honors Status (for students entering OSU Autumn 2006 and after)

Course Requirements: 6 Honors, upper division (500+), or graduate-level courses over the first 2 years. (Maximum of 2 honors embedded courses can be used toward 6 course requirement)Students are required to earn a minimum of 15 points per year through Honors coursework, service, and scholarship. A yearly plan for Honors work should be completed each Autumn. A final report is due by June 1 on progress for the year.

Graduation Program Requirement: To graduate with Honors in Allied Medical Professions, students must maintain at least a 3.4 GPA and earn 80 points over four years. The points should be distributed as follows:

Minimum of 30 points in Honors or graduate coursesMinimum of 20 points in researchMinimum of 20 points in leadership and service activities

Other Requirements or Information: Students are also encouraged to do a research thesis with a faculty member during their senior year. Students who successfully complete the thesis graduate “with Distinction.”

Requirements to Enter Honors after Enrollment at OSU or Transfer to OSU:To receive initial honors status from the School, the student must have a minimum of 30 credit hours of OSU or transferred coursework and have at least a 3.4 GPA in all previous courses. Students who receive the honors designation must develop an Honors Plan and will be reviewed at the end of Spring Quarter. OSU honors students who are transferring into SAMP will maintain their honors status, develop an Honors Plan, and be eligible for review at the end of Spring Quarter as required of all SAMP Honors students.
