At the Alliance Française, we assist with this in every possible way we can. This year AF will be having a workshop from 24th September with AF technical advisor for the Visa2Dance,

Antoine Cannella who is the sound and light technician will be holding a workshop for this during the first week of October.

In the middle of nowhere, a mill town emptied of its population over the last few years. However, some have decided to stay, more out of choice than necessity, because this is where they were born and grew up. Among them: Francis, a conscientious worker who continues to maintain the machine on which he’s worked all his life; Samir, his son, who returns to the neighbourhood after a long absence; and Maria, the neighbour, who lives alone with her son José, who believes his father is Gary Cooper. He thus waits for him every day in the streets of this modern no-man’s-land.

Simon Regis is a Cartoonist who is attached with New Habari (2006) Ltd. He began drawing while at primary school and has continued to do so, making his passion and dream his everyday job. Having the opportunity to work with various NGOs as a Cartoonist. HakiElimu, UNDP and also been able to work with local companies like DAWASCO, he has also contributed several cartoons for various Books and Posters.

His mentor and motivator to pursue cartooning here in Tanzania was John Kaduma. This is the first time that he is taking part in a cartoon exhibition and is hoping to take part in many exhibitions around Tanzania and also internationally so that people realize his and appreciate his talent.

Having participated in many competitions and through work here in Tanzania he is gotten recognized by the people.

Ngoma performances are used to express joy and sadness. As in most cultures, poly-rhythms are played. This means that each drum plays a different rhythm and when the different rhythms are combined, they produce one unique sound.

Drumming is a complex skill that requires coordination, timing, rhythm and concentration. Singing, in Ngoma is compulsory, because song is used as an avenue of communication. Because many African languages are “tone languages,” in which pitch level determines meaning, the melodies and rhythms of songs generally follow the intonation contour and rhythms of the song texts.

The band began in 1964 and was originally named “NUTA Jazz Band”, after its sponsor, the National Union of Tanganyika (NUTA). In the early years of dansi, the NUTA Jazz Band was very influential both artistically and in terms of financial organization; namely, it was one of the first dansi bands to constitute itself into a “cooperative” of salaried musicians.

NUTA Jazz Band held its position as one of the major Tanzanian dansi bands throughout the latter half of the 1960s and most of the 1970s. In 1977 it experienced a major change in personnel, with many of its most talented musicians (including Muhiddin Maalim and Hassani Bitchuka) leaving the band to form a new ensemble, Mlimani Park Orchestra. In 1977, the band changed its name to “Juwata Jazz”. Guitarist Saidi Mabera became the new leader of the band writing several of Juwata’s hit songs of the 1980s. Maalim is credited with on the major hits of Juwata in the 1990s, Usia kwa watoto.

The band changed its name again in 1991 from Juwata Jazz to OTTU Jazz,[1] when the trade union that sponsored it was renamed Organization of Tanzanian Trade Unions. The band is still active as “Msondo Ngoma”, performing regularly at the TCC Club in Temeke for example,[2] and is the oldest active dansi band in Tanzania. This is reflected by its motto baba ya muziki, “father of music”.

Addiction not only ruins the lives of users, but has a negative impact on the lives of their families, loved ones and society in general. To do nothing to help these people in recovery would contribute to the mounting emotional and social costs, which would over time impact the community at large.

In an attempt to improve this problem, the Sober Houses in Zanzibar offer a beacon of hope: they are a positive option, a way forward and upward. This has turned their lives around. It has also given them a great sense of self worth and they hope to return to mainstream society as positive and productive individuals.

Residents of the Sober House program including sculpture, painting, craft, tailoring, carpentry, bead making, silk screen printing and soap making, just to name a few. Other workshops include meditation, yoga, drama, English, Spanish and French classes. These all help to boost their self esteem and interpersonal skills.

Forests cover a third of the Earth’s surface. They are home to over half of terrestrial species and hundreds of millions of human beings. Forests provide part of one in four people’s incomes. For 7 billion people, most of the world’s population, forests are resources for the food they eat, the air they breathe and the medicines they consume. And yet, forests remain unknown and wrongly loved. And most of all, they are in danger. The United Nations declared the International Year of Forests, 2011. It is an opportunity to discover, rediscover, celebrate, cherish, describe, protect and use these ecosystems more sustainable.

The traveling exhibition features 70 large format photographs by some of the greatest photographers. Each powerful photograph is accompanied by a caption that describes the content of the photograph. This exhibition offers the public the opportunity of a free initiatory journey and popular event. The unique path of initiation encourages visitors to wander through the photos and reflect on the importance of protecting our forests.

Blood slave. Is the first story in the collection. The story takes place in Saint-Malo, at the time of the slave trade. Captain Bressac master of a slave ship is murdered at Gorée in Senegal, and it is the Commander of the ship who succeeds him. Despite the maritime custom to immerse the body, the Commander decides to repatriate the body to Saint-Malo. Captain Bréssac was carring slaves for farms to the New World.

“La poursuite du bonheur” (the pursuit of the happiness), it is very interesting story, the story is about Kate who is at the funeral of her mother and she notices that there is an elderly woman. The next day the woman sends a message that she wants to talk to her but Kate refuses, so Sara Smythe( the name of the woman) sends to her a photo album that has the photos of Kate’s family.Indignantly, Kate rushes to the woman, it is then that Sara gives a manuscript telling her that Jack Malone, Kate’s father was the man of her life. Kate returns home and start reading the manuscript, she is about to know the painful story of her family.

“Juste un regard”(just take a look) written by Harlan Coben,he is among the best authors who has worn several awards. The story is about the life of Grace Lawson who notices that the man she married ten years ago was not the one she thought. It was just enough to take a look at an old photo of twenty years of a man to understand that its existence is a terrible deception in her life, but this is just the beginning of the nightmare.
