We are very close to the end of another fantastic
Term. As Principal it is amazing to see how much
we have achieved over the past three terms. A
specific well done to all students that participated
and represented Allenby Gardens or House Teams
in SAPSASA competitions, the Festival Choir, Fun
Run and Sports Day. I am looking forward to
another busy term ahead with still so much to
cover.
Even though I was unable to be there in person
for Sports Day last week, I have still received
some great feedback from the day and by all
accounts holding the day at Allenby Gardens
Reserve was a huge success and there was even
a little sunshine shared on the day. A huge
congratulations to this years winners of BOTH
the Sports Day AND Values Shields—HEYSEN—
well done for an all round good effort.
Congratulations to Mawson, Longmore and
Spence too— I have heard that all teams put in a
fantastic effort on the day.
STEM
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
building works is now well under way and on
schedule for opening next year.
It is very exciting to watch the development take
shape with some major changes already visible.
2018 CLASS PLACEMENTS
We are now commencing planning for 2018 classes. Although staffing hasn't been completed yet I am offering parents the opportunity to communicate information which will help the Leadership Team and staff to make decisions regarding class placement for students. If you would like to express your interest, please send a letter addressed to Yunni Seindanis marked “Confidential 2018 Class Placement”. Letters need to be received by
Friday 27th October I would appreciate the following information included in the letter:
Children who your child gets on well with socially and would work well together
Children who your child has difficulties with and would be best separated
Strengths and interests that your child has Letters from previous years will not be taken into consideration as friendships and interests do change over time. Please do not request teachers as there have been many changes to the year levels that current teachers are going to be working with next year. Students will be asked to select 4 friends who they would like to be with. Depending on suitability according to teachers we will try to organise classes so that each child has at least 1 or 2 friends with them. Teachers will talk to children about making sensible requests based on friendships which enhance learning, not those which hinder learning.

HATS AND UNIFORM
The weather will be hotting up next term and we have
noticed that a number of our students are missing
their school hats.
So a timely reminder for all of our children to stay
sunsmart. They should be wearing their hats at recess
and lunch and also during any outdoor lessons
otherwise they will miss out—No Hat No Play.
Hats are available to purchase from the Front Office
for $15.00 (cash only please).
Also a reminder to families / students that Allenby
Gardens Primary School has a school uniform code of
Gold and Navy Blue.
Again, a number of students have been wearing a
variety of different colours this term and whilst we
appreciate the colder weather requires more layers,
we still request that our students stick to the colour
code.
Our uniform shop offers a full range of school
uniforms and are happy to help. Order forms are
available from the Front Office and shop times will be
published at the beginning of next Term.
SAPSASA NEWS On Tuesday 12th September, approximately 35 students represented our school at the SAPSASA District Athletics Carnival at Henley Athletics Club. The attitude and participation levels were fantastic and the students demonstrated outstanding personal qualities in competing against schools from our local area. Some individuals who achieved outstanding results on the day were: Sophie E - 1st in 10 year old Shot Put Elli C - 1st in 11 year old High Jump, Shot Put and Discus Aiden S - 2nd in 11 year old Shot Put Danila B - 1st in 10 year old Discus and 3rd in Long Jump Kaitlin - 1st in 10 year old 200m Kosta - 2nd in 13 year old 100m and most of our relay teams were awarded with 1st, 2nd or 3rd ribbons. Overall, our school came 2nd in our Division. Well done to Mr K and the students involved. More Sports Day Photos
On Friday 20th October (week 1 of Term 4) we're encouraging all students and staff to wear red to school, in an effort to raise awareness of dyslexia. (No gold coin donation required, just wear red). 10-15% of Australians are dyslexic, and have persistent difficulty with reading, writing and spelling on a daily basis. On Light it Up Red Day we'll be celebrating and empowering those in our community who struggle with dyslexia. Look out for buildings around the city, including Adelaide Oval and Pulteney Grammar School, who will be lighting up their buildings during the month of October. You can add a Light It Red for Dyslexia twibbon to your Facebook or Twitter profile picture here too : https://twibbon.com/support/light-it-red-for-dyslexia?fref=gc&dti=1593751450906842
