How long, Lord, am I to cry for help while you will not listen; to cry Oppression!in your ear and you will not save? Why do you set injustice before me, why do you look on where there is tyranny? Outrage and violence, this is all I see, all is contention, and discord flourishes. Then the Lord answered and said, Write the vision down, inscribe it on tablets to be easily read, since this vision is for its own time only: eager for its own fulfilment, it does not deceive; if it comes slowly, wait, for come it will, without fail. See how he flags, he whose soul is not at rights, but the upright man will live by his faithfulness.(R.) If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Come, ring out our joy to the Lord; hail the rock who saves us. Let us come before him, giving thanks, with songs let us hail the Lord. (R.) Come in; let us bow and bend low; let us kneel before the God who made us for he is our God and we the people who belong to his pasture, the flock that is led by his hand. (R.) O that today you would listen to his voice! Harden not your hearts as at Meribah, as on that day at Massah in the desert when your fathers put me to the test; when they tried me, though they saw my work.(R.) I am reminding you to fan into a flame the giſt that God gave you when I laid my hands on you. Gods giſt was not a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power, and love, and self-control. So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to the Lord, or ashamed of me for being his prisoner; but with me, bear the hardships for the sake of the Good News, relying on the power of God. Keep as your pattern the sound teaching you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. You have been trusted to look aſter something precious; guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Alleluia, alleluia! How long, Lord, am I to cry for help while you will not listen; to cry ‘Oppression!’ in your ear and you will not save? Why do you set injustice before me, why do you look on where there is tyranny? Outrage and violence, this is all I see, all is contention, and discord flourishes. Then the Lord answered and said,

All Souls Day is rapidly approaching so we would very much appreciate it if you could please bring in the names you wish to have on our All Souls list for 2019. All names are to be in by 3.00pm Wednesday 23rd October to enable us to prepare the list and send it to our country parishes before All Souls Day. No names will be accepted after this date.

They also wished to offer a big thank you to the many wonderful people who supported and baked items for the recent successful ACYF cake stall.

The Tokelau community will be visiting the Diocese to celebrate the Ordination of Emene. We will be collecting donations of non-perishable breakfast

Understanding the rite of ordination: Handing over of the Bread and Wine : The introduction to the ritual says, “the handing over of the bread and wine, placed into the hands of the newly

ordained Priests, points to their duty of presiding at the celebration of the Eucharist and of following Christ crucified.” A chalice already filled with wine mixed with water and a paten with bread is brought forward from amidst the assembled Local Church. The Bishop places these in the hands of the newly ordained and says, “Receive the oblation of the holy people, to be offered to God. Understand what you do, imitate what you celebrate, and conform your life to the mystery of the Lord's Cross.”

Question:

I volunteer every once in a while. How can I incorporate serving the poor in my everyday life?

Answer:

In the Gospels, Jesus is very clear about emphasizing outreach to vulnerable persons on the margins of society. These may be the materially poor, the disabled, the lonely, or any others whose circumstances drive them from mainstream society. We can all respond to Christ's call to love by incorporating direct service into our regular life routine. Here are some ideas to find your niche: Consider your life. Before you look for direct service opportunities, consider your schedule, commitment levels, and personal gifts. When can you help out and how regularly? Where have you volunteered in the past that has felt like a good fit? Do you have any particular skills or personality traits that lend you to particular work? Do some research. There are a lot of structured ways you can get involved in your community. Your parish might have a social concerns outreach program. If not, ask friends and family. A simple online search for local nonprofits can also expose you to new opportunities. Be open to God's invitation. The chance to serve may be closer than you think. Befriending an elderly neighbour, widowed and far from children, is an act of serving the poor. Keep your eyes and heart open!

Please Pray For: John Cazzulino, Gordon Argaet (died last week) Myrtle Jean Pizzino, Marianne Ferrero (annivs at this time), Tina Girgenti, Dec’d members Sartoresi & Vella families, Vittorio & Maria Cantoni, Alfio, Maria, Sarina & Rudi Fichera, Santo & Giuseppina Contarino, Rico Bassignana, Joshua La Rosa, Edna Garutti, Carlo & Maria Magoni, Elliott Francis Matheisen, Frank Scovazzi, Baldo Fanti, Gloria Motti, David Cutting

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls

and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
