April 22 9:10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Earth Day Dance-A-Thon – the entire school will be participating in a one hour block of dancing time. This is to promote daily physical activity and fundraise for materials for the school. An Earth Day theme is being utilized to prompt discussion in the classrooms and look for ways that the Ellwood students can help in their community.

10:20 – 10:30 a.m. Choral Reading – our principal will read a story over the PA system and one of our teachers will scan the story online prior to, allowing the staff to share the book with our classes while it is being read. There will be follow-up activities to go with the story.

April 19 10:40 – Noon Staff Chili Luncheon – several members of our staff will make a chili and our Admin team will judge which one is the best while staff who purchase tickets, enjoy the chili for lunch. Money raised from our ticket sales will go to Wellspring Chinguacousy to support the cancer centre in our community.

April 20 9 – 10:40 a.m. Assembly – we will be hosting an assembly to showcase the talents around our school. This assembly will be held for our FDK students through to grade 2.

8:40 a.m. – 3 p.m. Day of Pink – we will be holding our Day of Pink this week because our students will be attending the Marlies game on April 13 when the Board acknowledges it. Staff and students will wear pink to show their support against bullying.

April 21 9 – 10:40 a.m. Assembly – we will be hosting an assembly to showcase the talents around our school. This assembly will be held for our grade 3 students through to grade 5.

April 22 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Community Clean-up – to celebrate Earth Day, our school will participate in a school-wide garbage clean-up in our community. We

We are going to have students participate in a math focus afternoon so that parents can see the process that the students go through during a 3 part lesson, using hands on materials and manipulative and working together as a class.

invited to join. Spring Concert during the evening - all parents and family invited to join. All classes are participating in the Spring Concert (the joys of a small school - we all get to participate!)

April 22 9:05 – 10 a.m. Closing Ceremony – during this, the principal will give a little speech about all the activities that the school participated in during the week. The principal will hand out the Awards of Distinction to recipients. The school dance club will also preform for the school to close the ceremony.

9:05 a.m. – 3 p.m. Park/Schoolyard Clean-up – school yard and park clean-up. All students and all classes are going to go out into the community to clean up the park and school yard.
