Uniform Guidelines

Junior SchoolKindergarten to Year 6

All StudentsStudents are to wear their uniform neatly. No ornamental jewellery is to be worn. Only watches, necklaces of religious or ethnic significance and in the case of girls with pierced ears, one pair of non-ornamental sleepers or studs may be worn in the earlobes. Make-up and nail polish are not permitted. Necklaces should be of sufficient length so they are not visible above uniform items.

Dress and AppearanceStudents are to arrive and leave school properly dressed in school uniform. If the school uniform is worn in public places, it must be worn correctly.

The sports uniform is to be worn for Physical Education and Sport. Students are not to wear sports uniforms all day at school, only in lessons on either side of sporting activities in addition to the sporting activity. The only exceptions to this rule are :

• if both PE and swimming lessons are on the same day• on days in which Middle Year Activities are held, Years 5

and 6 students are permitted to wear the Sports Uniform with green TAS sports shirt all day.

On Interhouse Sports Days or other specified days, house shirts are to be worn.

When travelling to and from school (except sports day) and participating in any school excursion or function, Prep to Year 2 students must wear the TAS legionnaires hat; Year 3 and 4 may wear TAS legionnaires hat or bucket hat; and Year 5 and 6 students must wear the TAS formal hat.

The TAS legionnaires or bucket hat is to be worn during breaks, outdoor sporting activity or any other outdoor activity in daylight hours. Hats should not be worn in the classroom.

All uniform items are available from the TAS Uniform & Bookshop, White Rock. The shop is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 3:45pm during term time. All student requirements in uniforms are available from the shop.

Parents of students attending Kewarra Beach may place an order by phone or email and item/s will be delivered to Kewarra Beach Reception the following day.

Uniforms are checked by the Head of Junior School or P-6 Coordinator on a regular basis. When the school uniform is worn incorrectly, a reminder letter may be issued.

Years 3 and 4• Green and white check dress with

white collar, cuffs and tab with a white belt across the back, buttoned down the front. Length: touching the knee.

• Short plain white socks, folded above the ankle.

Years 5 and 6• Plain white blouse with green tie

attached.• Green skirt with kick pleats. Length:

Hair• Short hair should be neat and tidy.• Shoulder length hair should be neatly

secured by clips and/or tied back. All hair accessories must be bottle green, white, gold or school tartan.

• A student’s hair is not to be styled or coloured in a manner that draws undue attention to that student.

Hair• Hairstyles should be short, neat and

of consistent length off the collar.• A student’s hair is not to be styled

or coloured in a manner that draws undue attention to that student.

• Haircuts using cutting blades 1, 2 or 3 are not permitted.

• Hair must not fall below the ears and eyes.

Sports UniformYears 3 to 6

• Green sports shirt with TAS logo.• Green shorts with TAS logo.• White sport socks with TAS logo or

plain white socks; anklets are not permitted.

• Sport shoes (with non-marking soles).

• TAS school swimmers and sun-top (rash vest).

Dress for School Based Out of School Activities

In most cases it is appropriate that students wear full uniform during school based activities out-of-school. The exception to this is when the activity may damage or soil the school uniform. Academic staff will advise of such instances when smart casual clothes are to be worn. They must include sleeves and enclosed footwear.

No item of clothing carrying anti-social or anti-religious themes are permitted. Every student must be aware that they leave the school as representatives of TAS.

BOYSGIRLSAdditional Items

Pullover: Bottle green, poly cotton pullover with green and white stripes around the cuffs, basque and v-neck. No other pullover or jumper is permitted.

School Bag: Bottle green with school crest, no other school bag is acceptable. Available in backpack style or pull-along.

Sports Bag: Bottle green with TAS sports crest. No other sports bag is acceptable.

Jacket: Bottle green, zip-up jacket available for Year 3 to 6.

Esky: Blue esky with white lid available for lunches.
