Special Feasts and Liturgies

Blessing of Animals, October 1Join us on the front lawn of the church for Evening Prayer and the Blessing of Animals at 5 p.m. Please bring your own animal companions, as we give thanks to God for all the special creatures that grace our lives.

Feast of All Saints and All Souls, November 5 This year, in recognition of our name day, we will celebrate a combined Feast of All Saints and All Souls with one combined High Mass at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 5. Following the Mass we will gather in the parish hall for an all-parish potluck, with foods that remind us of those we love but see no longer.

Thanksgiving Day, November 23 Come for our annual Thanksgiving Day Feast. Join us downstairs around 3 p.m. for cooking and fellowship throughout the afternoon, with a turkey dinner around 4 p.m.

Advent Lessons & Carols, December 3 Join us at the 11 a.m. Mass as we celebrate the beginning of the Advent season with a series of lessons, special music sung by the choir, and congregational carols.

Lifelong Formation

Adult Forum meets regularly on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in the parish hall, except for occasional holiday pauses. We consider a wide range of topics including contemporary theological and social issues and matters of parish life. Following our summer series on Brian McLaren’s book The Great Spiritual Migration, this November and December parishioner Joe Howell will join Father Jadon for a special series: Liberation Theology: Then and Now. Dates will be announced in The Weekly.

Reading with the Rector Our mission as Christians is to manifest God’s love in the world and transform the powers and principalities of evil and hate into instruments of peace and justice. Father Jadon has asked us to read and discuss two books this fall (pictured below) following the events that unfolded in Charlottesville earlier this year. He will reflect on them from time to time in his preaching and make opportunities for us to discuss them together in special forums and/or mini-retreats.
