PREPARATORY MUSIC Daniel Renstrom

Jesus Invites His People

SONG 1

COME YE SINNERS

Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,Weak and wounded, sick and sore;Jesus ready stands to save you,Full of pity, love and pow’r.

(Refrain)I will rise and go to Jesus,He’ll embrace me in His arms;In the arms of my dear Savior,Oh, there are ten thousand charms

Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome,God’s free bounty glorify;True belief and true repentance,Every grace that brings you nigh.

(Refrain)

Come, ye weary, heavy-laden,Lost and ruined by the fall;If you tarry till you’re better,You will never come at all.

(Refrain)

Jesus Is the Word Who Became Flesh

John 1:1-14

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

SONG 3: Jesus Is Our Joy Daniel Renstrom

JOY TO THE WORLD

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!Let earth receive her King;Let every heart prepare Him room,And heav’n and nature sing,And heav’n and nature sing,And heav’n, and heav’n, and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plainsRepeat the sounding joy,Repeat the sounding joy,Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flowFar as the curse is found,Far as the curse is found,Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,And makes the nations proveThe glories of His righteousness,And wonders of His love,And wonders of His love,And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Jesus Is the First and the Last

Revelation 1:12-18

12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

SONG 4: Jesus Is Our Crowned King Daniel Renstrom

IN CHRIST ALONE

In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; This cornerstone, this solid ground,Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace,When fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all—Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness,Scorned by the ones He came to save.Till on that cross as Jesus died,The wrath of God was satisfied; For ev’ry sin on Him was laid—Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,Light of the world by darkness slain; Then bursting forth in glorious day,Up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory,Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me;For I am His and He is mine—Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—This is the pow’r of Christ in me;From life’s first cry to final breath,Jesus commands my destiny. No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man,Can ever pluck me from His hand;Till He returns or calls me home—Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.

SILENT REFLECTION: Jesus Is Our Peace

SONG 5: Jesus Is Our Majesty Daniel Renstrom

CROWN HIM WITH MANY CROWNS

Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne, Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee, and hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

Crown Him the Lord of life, who triumphed o’er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save. His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high, who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

Crown Him the Lord of Lords, Who over all doth reign, Who once on earth, the incarnate Word For ransomed sinners slain Now lives in realms of light Where saints with angels sing Their songs before Him day and night, Their God, Redeemer, King.

Lyrics continued on next page.

Crown Him the Lord of heaven, Enthroned in worlds above; Crown Him the King to whom is given The wondrous name of Love. Crown Him with many crowns As thrones before Him fall; Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns For He is King of all

SONG 6: Jesus Is Our Love Daniel Renstrom

HALLELUJAH WHAT A SAVIOR

“Man of Sorrows!” what a nameFor the Son of God, who cameRuined sinners to reclaim.Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,In my place condemned He stood;Sealed my pardon with His blood.Hallelujah! What a Savior!

(Chorus)HallelujahHallelujahHallelujahWhat a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;Spotless Lamb of God was He;“Full atonement!” can it be?Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;“It is finished!” was His cry;Now in Heav’n exalted high.Hallelujah! What a Savior!

(Chorus)

When He comes, our glorious King,All His ransomed home to bring,Then anew His song we’ll sing:Hallelujah! What a Savior!

SCRIPTURE READING John Williams

Jesus Is Our Forgiver

Colossians 1:11-22

11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,...
