Parish Mission Statement

We, All Saints Parish, are drawn together by the power of

the Holy Spirit to be a living and convincing sign of God’s

unconditional love. We are gifted to build bonds among

ourselves and others in order to live the Gospel in word,

worship, community and service for the salvation of all

and the building of God’s kingdom.

Today's Gospel begins immediately after the final verse in last Sunday's Gospel. After strong language about the difficulties of discipleship, Jesus immediately appoints 72 people to go ahead of him to every town and place he plans to visit, proclaiming that the Kingdom of God is at hand. He sends them in pairs. In the Law of Moses two witnesses were needed for a testimony to be credible. It was probably also a safer way to travel.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: Adult preparation for the Sacrament of

Initiation. If you know of anyone who might be interested in inquiring about the

Catholic Faith, call the parish office or Maureen Dillon at (570) 779-9874.

Classes are generally held on Sunday mornings after the 8:30 AM Mass.

Baptism of Infants: Parents requesting Baptism for their children should make

an appointment with the Pastor to begin the process. The months of preparation

before the birth of a child are the appropriate time to plan for the Sacrament.

Catholic Marriage: Diocesan Policy states that those considering celebrating

the Sacrament of Marriage must meet with the pastor at least six months before

any desired wedding date. Please call the office to schedule an appointment with

the Pastor.

Communion for the Homebound: We invite homebound parishioners who

wish to receive Holy Communion to call the office.

Hospital Visitation: Please notify the Parish Office if you or a loved one is

hospitalized as the hospital no longer notifies the parish. If a patient would like

to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation or Anointing of the Sick or if he or

she would just like a visit, please call the office to make arrangements.

Prayer for Life

Father and maker of all, you adorn all creation with splendor and beauty, and fashion human lives in

your image and likeness.

Awaken in every heart reverence for the work of your hands, and renew among your people a

readiness to nurture and sustain your precious gift of life.

Grant this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the

Holy Spirit, God Forever and ever. Amen.

If you would like to purchase Altar Breads or Sanctuary Candles for a week in memory or in honor of

a loved one, contact Jackie Karnes at 570-332-1176 (Monday thru Friday only) for available dates.

Altar Breads are $25.00 per week and Sanctuary Candles are $15.00 per week.

GIVING A MEMORIAL GIFT TO YOUR PARISH WHEN THERE IS A DEATH OF A

LOVED ONE AND MAKING YOUR WILL: Have you ever considered giving a monetary gift

to your parish in memory of a deceased loved one at the time of death or later on? It’s a beautiful

expression of love for both the person who died and your parish. We always need money to enable

us to continue to accomplish the mission of Jesus and for the general upkeep of our parish

properties. Please consider this unique expression of giving in lieu of flowers, Mass cards and other

expressions. When making your Will, remember All Saints Parish & the good that can come

because of the legacy you leave your parish. Monetary donations would be gratefully appreciated if

made to the Parish Building Fund, The Christian Service Center, Parish Cemeteries or All Saints

Catholic School Education Fund, to be used by a family or families who need assistance with

sending their child to a Catholic School. Thank you.

CLEAN-UP DAY AT ALL SAINTS PARISH We will be conducting a clean-up day at All Saints on Saturday, July 23rd. There has been a large

collection of clutter that has accumulated over the years in the parish rectory, the church basement

and also the school basement. This clutter has been identified and will require moving it out of the

basement areas of each building ad into the dumpsters that we will be ordering for its proper

disposal.

WE NEED THE SERVICES OF SOME STRONG ARMS AND BACKS TO ASSIST IN THIS

WORK! If you are a physically healthy individual who is at least 12 years of age, we would

appreciate you helping us in this removal effort. The more people we have in this effort, the less

time it will take, however we are expecting it to take about two hours.

Water & light beverages will be available for proper hydration, and after completion of the chores a

lunch of hoagies and pizza will be available to all volunteers. Sign-up sheets are in the ramp area

and also in the back entrance of the church. You can also call the parish office during normal

business hours to volunteer for this effort. Please sugn-up as soon as you can so that we can order

enough liquids and food. all volunteers are asked to report to the holy Child School grounds at

10:45 AM on Saturday, July 23rd.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE REORGANIZATION MEETING – JULY 23RD The meeting opened with prayer by facilitator Marina Kopko, coordinator of the Community

Committee. Each attendee then provided a brief introduction which included number of years and

role with Bereavement. Core team member Audrey Kocher gave an overview, stressing the need

for new leadership after the passing of former chairman Ann Januszewski. The responsibilities of

the core team members, including the various pieces of correspondence which are sent to the

almost 100 families in the parish each year who have lost a loved one was explained, as well as the

planning of the annual Mass of Remembrance and reception in November. A majority of attendees

serve as volunteers who deliver gifts to the families, so there was a discussion of the types and cost

of the gifts which are given as well as how to sign the accompanying card indicating the gift is

given by the volunteer on behalf of the parish. Due to the large number of funerals, there is a need

for additional volunteers and for more prayer leaders for funeral home vigils and adult altar servers

for funeral Masses. Audrey has been serving as interim Bereavement chairman, but cannot continue

in that capacity. New member Sandy Bonawits stepped forward to coordinate these responsibilities.

She will sort through the materials formerly held by Ann and will work with Audrey to transition to

her new role.
