REFLECTION
Ash Wednesday Prayer
God, we are marked with ashes,
symbols of repentant hearts and contrite spirits.
We want to be transformed, to be made new,
to learn freedom of serving no other master but you.
Let us heed your call and walk with Christ
into the wilderness.
Help us to see beneath the surface
not denial and sacrifice not sin and death,
but transformation, new life in Christ.
Let us seek to be changed, let us seek to be so transfigured
by your power and glory that we desire above all else
to become worthy citizens of your new world of peace and justice,
Amen

Trophy presentation: This will be made back at school after all the events have concluded. Student Protection: It Is Everyone’s Responsibility Mobile devices at school can be an issue or concern. We have a policy at school whereby any such device that comes to school MUST be handed into the Office before 8:30am and collected at 3:00pm. Mobile devices should only be coming to school if they are absolutely necessary. Phones or other communication device are okay in case of emergencies. Though NO contact should be made during school hours and any emergency notifications should be made through the Office. Listening devices for those students who have a long way to travel are permissible. These devices should only be used when students are on the bus. Recording devices brought from home should not be coming to school. These devices have NO place in a school situation. Please remind any student bringing these devices to school to hand them into the Office. Students who fail to hand in devices will have them taken from them and phone calls will be made to parents/caregivers to organise a time to return the device to the student. Dates to Remember:

Church Year-Pancake Day-Gold Coin Donation
Ordinary Time comes to a close on Tuesday with the celebrating of Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the day
before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent in the Catholic Church and other churches that observe Lent.
Shrove Tuesday is a reminder that Christians are entering a season of penance. It was originally a solemn day, but
over the centuries, in anticipation of the Lenten fast that would begin the next day, Shrove Tuesday took on a
festive nature. That is why Shrove Tuesday is also known as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras (which is simply French
for Fat Tuesday).
Pancakes and maple syrup will be served to the Preps to Year 2 classes just prior to first break. As the Years 3-
6 will be at the swimming carnival, pancakes will be available for those children after their return to school at
second break. Children are asked to bring in a gold coin donation. All money donated will be sent to Caritas—a
Catholic foundation that supports people in need from nearly every country in the world. Thank you in advance
for your kind donation.
Ash Wednesday liturgy
On Wednesday morning, the whole school will gather for an Ash Wednesday liturgy. Father Peter will anoint
us with ashes to remind us of our need to turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.
Just a thought... Don’t make excuses, make improvements.
Have a great week ahead

Organisational Skills for children
We all lead busy lives and often don’t have the time for our children to spend learning and practicing new skills
that assist them with being able to organise themselves. A great idea is to keep a family calendar. Track
everyone's activities on a prominent and accessible calendar, encouraging your child to write his/her own
entries and reference the calendar when making plans. You also might consider checking schedules and
updating the calendar as a family over a suitable family time.

LEARNING SUPPORT NEWS
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND PYSCHOLOGY SERVICES LTTS is an Allied Health company that has been working closely with All Saints’ Catholic Primary School for over a year. We offer both Occupational Therapy and Psychology services through a range of private and funded options to families. Occupational Therapists work with children by supporting them with everyday school tasks. Children may need Occupational Therapy if they experience difficulties in the following areas: maintaining attention and concentration in class, difficulties with behaviour, socialising, problem solving, handwriting, using a functional pencil grip, poor core-body strength/balance and/or who seem overly sensitive to lights, sounds or physical touch. Some children work with an Occupational Therapy for a range of these challenges and some need assistance in just a few areas. Psychologists can help children and adults who may be finding it difficult to cope, managing and creating strategies for dealing with difficult times or situations, working through different emotional and behavioural responses and ways to overcome challenges. The LTTS team works closely with families, teachers and support staff to create collaborative goals that prioritize your child. If you would like any more information on how to access this service, please feel free to contact LTTS on 1300 884 954 or [email protected] or see Vicki Hinrichsen (Support Teacher) for further details. Services can include both individual and group therapy sessions. SENSORY TOOLS

LIBRARY NEWS
HAPPY LIBRARY LOVER’S MONTH Did you know...February is Library Lover’s Month? During this time the value of school, public and private libraries all over the world is acknowledged and celebrated. For our part in spreading the news that sharing information and reading can be enjoyable we’ve been having lots of fun in the lunch breaks making origami heart bookmarks and paper heart decorations. Class visits saw students really enjoying
looking for hidden messages and some older students even brave enough to take home a book ‘blind date’. Enjoy what’s left of Library Lover’s Month and if you get a chance, pop into a library to check out what’s on offer. The Karen’s

ALL SAINTS’ CATHOLIC SCHOOL – BOONAH
SCHOOL FEE PAYMENT & COLLECTION POLICY
Issuing of Accounts
School fees are emailed to the primary contact person and are issued at the following times:
Term 1 – end of week 3; Terms 2 to 4 – end of week 1.
Fees are due 3 weeks after the date issued. Fees are structured in the following way:
Tuition Fee: the amount charged to educate your child / children
Levies: costs charged for educational activities such as: excursions (swimming lessons, Raw Art visits, Footsteps
Dance Company), stationery and other consumable items, access to Information Technology, maintenance of
buildings, enhancements to the grounds and providing for any new constructions.
Fee adjustment: families that arrive during the school year or depart before the end of the school year will have their
School Fees adjusted.
Parents/Guardians are asked to pay the account by the nominated due date, which is shown on the account.
Method of Payment
Payment can be made at the School Office by cash, cheque, credit/debit card, BPay, Direct Deposit and/or Direct Debit.
Reminder Notices
This will be the process:
1. One week after the nominated due date a reminder notice will be forwarded to any accounts unpaid.
2. Two weeks after the nominated due date, should accounts continue to remain outstanding, a member of the
Administration Team will make contact to discuss the outstanding fees.
Payment Difficulties
There are times when accounts cannot be paid by the due date. If you are experiencing such difficulties, please contact the
School as soon as possible, preferably before the due date.
From this discussion, assistance, such as extending the time to pay or offering a payment by installments, can be arranged.
Overdue Accounts
On the rare occasions when families fail to pay their account, do not respond to reminder notices and/or do not contact the
School to make alternate arrangements, the School will be forced to consider engaging the services of a professional debt
collection agency.
Please be aware that additional charges will be incurred once the account has been handed to the debt collection agency.
Once the account is handed over the matter effectively passes out of the School’s control and all negotiations for payment
must then be made with the debt collector. Please be aware that this may result in your credit rating be affected.
Concessions
In cases of financial hardship the School will consider offering a concession.
Concession applications must be made with the Principal and are accepted at the commencement of each year (within the
first month) or when a hardship within the family occurs.
Concessions are based in line with Federal Government Poverty Guidelines. The assessment process takes all income into
consideration including: Wages, Youth Allowance, all other Centrelink payments etc; as well as housing costs eg rent or
mortgage.
Concessions on fees are not ongoing and applications must be resubmitted at the commencement of the new
school year.
Should you require further information, please contact the School: Ph. 5463 1322.
