FN Schmehr, Ryan57kg Freestyle-59kg Greco

USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76)“I’m not nervous to step out on the

big stage and represent the Navy. I’ve put in the work and I trust in my tools. I’m ready to go out and

perform like I know I can. I will be a champion come Sunday.”

OS2 Zachariah Manning125kg Freestyle-130kg Greco

USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55)“Words of a wise mane –‘They’ll tell

you ‘failure is not an option.’ That is ridiculous, failure is always an

option. Failure is the most readily available option at all times; but it’s a choice. You can choose to fail or

you can choose to succeed.’ – Chael P. Sonnen”

AN Lance Jeffries74kg Freestyle

USS Nimitz (CVN 68) “It has only been a month since I

left my command to try to make it onto the All Navy team. It feels like

longer though. I think that’s because of the tough workouts we’ve had in

preparation for the Armed Forces Championship and because of the relationships that have been

made with my teammates and coaches. The bond wrestlers have is special, different from most sports. Anyone who’s been on a

wrestling team would agree. The sweat, blood, bruises and banged up bones are all a part of the grind that is wrestling. Going

through something that tough with a group of guys makes you close. All that we have left is the Armed Forces Championship. I

know that my teammates and I are ready for war. All of the brutal practices to prepare are not real fun. However, it’s necessary for

the best part of wrestling—competing. So now it’s time to go have some fun.”

AS3 David Perez65kg Freestyle-66kg Greco [2nd String]USS America (LHA 6)“Being a part of the wrestling team is an honor for me. Training hard with my teammates has given me a sense of family. No other sport works as hard as this and because of that, I have learned so much. Each

day has been a challenge and it will all add up to victory in the long run.”

OS3 Abril Ramirez63kg FreestyleUSS Halsey (DG 97)“So this week is the big week, the week leading to the Armed Forces Championship. I’m extremely ner-vous, but I know I’m ready. I’m also exited to take part in this tournament. It’s been a while since I’ve competed

in a tournament so I’m really happy to be competing in this particular tournament. Its time to go BEAST MODE!”

HN Bobby Hiro Raines61kg FreestyleNaval Branch Health Clinic Port Hueneme“The time is almost here to compete and I’m not going to lie, I am a little nervous. Over the last year I have improved a lot. I feel like a com-pletely different wrestler. Although

I am severely underweight, that is not something that decides the entire match. Throughout my entire wrestling career I have usually been underweight. This only means that I have less room for error, especially at this level at competition. It’s a huge honor to be able to represent the Navy in the sport I love so much. Time to go out there and destroy people’s dreams.”

ND2 David Close80kg GrecoMDSU-2“I’m serving my country, I’m a Navy Diver, I’m a Navy wrestler. This weekend is a fight for my pride and everyone who stand behind me.”

IC3 Austin Craig75kg Greco

USS Nimitz (CVN 68) “I’m just trying to break ribs and

take my medal... America!”

ND3 Blake Borges70kg Freestyle

SDVT-1“Words of a wise man- ‘Whoever

steps on my mat is getting body bagged.’

-Gorges Borges”

MM3 James Souza85kg Freestyle-86kg Greco

USS America (LHA 6)“This is my mat. They’re here on

my mat?! They’re all going to make them question why they’re here.

I’m going to make them quit. This is our weekend to get our hands

raised. YEEEET!”

AE2 White Dawkins65kg Freestyle-66kg Greco

VP-40“It’s the final countdown! Last

week until the tournament and I’m really excited about giving it my all. I don’t have much to talk about as I’m mentally and physi-

cally preparing these last few days. Wish me luck, kidding I don’t believe in luck.”

AEAN Joseph K. Blaes 97kg Freestyle-98kg GrecoHSC-4“This is our last week before the Armed Forces Championship. All the hard work has been put in; all the blood sweat and tears the past few weeks all comes down to this weekend. Win this and you qualify for the 2016 United States Olympic

trials. That’s all the motivation I need! Going to leave it all out on the mat and hold nothing back, all while having fun doing it! HOOYAH!”

MA2 Bobby Yamashita71kg GrecoNAS Pensacola“I’m competing this Saturday in Greco-Roman style wrestling at the prestigious Armed Forces Champion-ship and it’s definitely a true honor to represent and compete for the Navy. It’s going to be vicious and brutal, but

honestly I just don’t care anymore. I feel calm and at ease and when the time comes I’m just going to take a deep breath and let it fly. I can’t wait to compete in this atmosphere and on this stage. I’m going to compete with great energy and passion because I truly cherish these moments and never take it for granted. Competing for everyone who has loved me and affected my blessed life.”

MASN Justice Shorter97kg Freestyle-98kg Greco [2nd String]Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific“Being on the team is being apart of a brotherhood. We care about each other and we push each other so that we can reach our goals on and off the mats. Wrestling’s more than just a sport, it’s a lifestyle.”
