The Organizers
The Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS) is a nodal organization of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of
India to propagate and carry out best forensic science practices in the country to serve the cause of criminal justice
delivery system. It has been established in the year 2002 on bifurcation from the BPR&D, New Delhi. The motto of
the Organisation is to Provide : High Quality, on time and Credible Forensic Services to the nation.
The Directorate of Forensic Science formulates plans and policies to promote forensic science services and to
regulate the same. The Directorate also provides the services to various Law Enforcement agencies of Central and
State through its well established Central Forensic Science Laboratories at Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.
Three more Central Forensic Science Laboratories have been established at Pune, Bhopal and Guwahati, and
these laboratories have recently started providing Forensic Services in various areas.
Gujarat University
Gujarat University (GU) is the oldest university of the state of Gujarat - established in 1949 by our visionary
leaders Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The lush-green university campus is situated across 260
acres of land in the heart of Ahmedabad city, the bustling epicentre of trade and commerce of the state of Gujarat.
The glory of GU is reected in some of the eminent alumni like Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Dr Kasturi Rangan (Former
chairman ISRO), Shri Narendra Modi(Prime Minister, India), Dr. Ravindra Dave (Former Chairman UNESCO) and
lot more. The University has 286 afliated institutes, and together around 4,00,000 students are enrolled with
the university. The university campus is having 5 major schools and over 60 academic departments. This
University has set up a pre incubation and idea stage support through the Gujarat University Start Up And
Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC) to formalize industrial consultancy project undertaken by faculties & students.
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre of Extension for Research & Innovation (CERI) provides a conducive eco system in
the form of Research Part. Gujarat University is the rst in western region of India to offer a post graduate course
in forensic science in 2006. The research programme in Forensic Science was started and has become a
recognized center for quality research in almost all thrust areas of forensic science and known for its highest
number of UGC-NET/JRF qualied students.

The Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS) MHA, New Delhi organises All India Forensic Science
Conference, (AIFSC) in collaboration with different states. This annual conference brings together Forensic
Science Professionals, Police Ofcers, Judiciary & Universities imparting Quality Forensic Education from India as
well as from other countries.
This conference has over the years, developed in to an excellent forum for exchange of information and ideas on
latest forensic practises. This year this conference is being organized jointly by the Gujarat University and Raksha th thShakti University at Ahmedabad during 10 to 12 Feb, 2018.The theme of the conference is “Harnessing New
Vistas in Academics & Forensic Science”. There will be invited talks from eminent police ofcers and
Forensic Scientist from India and abroad. Invited speakers include speakers from Interpol, USA, UK & India. The
topics covered will be of wide forensics interest to enhance and upgrade the knowledge of the forensic scientists
in latest forensic techniques. The organisers have also planned to hold panel discussion on key issues to maximize
utilization of Forensic Science Practice as an aid to Crime Investigation and Administration of Justice. Scientic
Papers contributed by practising Forensic Scientists of the State and Central FSL and Universities involved in
Forensic Science teaching, would also be presented and discussed in the conference in the following disciplines
in Oral & Poster Presentation Sections. 1. Forensic Biological sciences 2. Forensic Chemical sciences 3.Forensic
Physical sciences 4. Forensic Document Sciences 5. Crime Scene Management (including Best Photograph of the
crime scene ) 6. Cyber/Computer Forensic 7. Forensic Psychology.
The Organising Committee will confer the best paper award in each category in the valedictory function. To address
various issues of the State, FSLs, a meeting of the Directors/Heads of the State and Central Forensic Science
Laboratories will be held under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary (Police Modernisation) MHA, Govt. of India.
The Prestigious Union Home Minister’s award for Distinguished & Meritorious work in Forensic Science will also be
conferred in different categories to the outstanding Forensic Science Professionals in the Inaugural/Validictory
function of the conference.

The Raksha Shakti University was established under the visionary leadership of Shri Narendra Modiji, by the Govt.
of Gujarat in 2009. It is a unique University and rst of its kind in India. The University offers Post Graduate, Post
Graduate Diploma and Degree courses in various branches of Police Sciences. Presently, the RSU offers 15
courses and has a student strength of about 550+. The students of this University are offered employment
opportunities in both Government and corporate entities where they use their skill sets for effective internal
security arrangements of the country.
The RSU boasts of a high pedigree of faculty in the Departments of Criminology, Forensic Science, Police
Administration, Law, Tele-communication, Information Technology etc. In a short span of 8 years, the RSU has
witnessed a dramatic progress both in terms of quality and quantity. It prides itself with having innumerable
partnerships with foreign Universities and Indian establishments related with internal security. The RSU is now
truly being recognized as the rst and last point for high quality education in all aspects of internal security.
The University emphasizes on bridging the gap between academia and eld practitioners which has proved to be
hugely benecial in day to day functioning of various Police agencies. The RSU houses world renowned
technologies like Brain Fingerprinting, Layered Voice Analysis and Video Spectral Comparator. It has developed a
niche in the areas of Neurocriminology and Psychometric Proling. The RSU strives to attain global standards in
all areas where it engages itself.

Ahmedabad - India’s First World Heritage CityMore than 600 year old Walled City of Ahmedabad founded by Ahmed Shah has been declared India’s rst World
Heritage City, recognising heritage value of the walled city’s unique heritage. Located on the eastern bank of the
Sabarmati river, presents a rich architectural heritage from the sultanate period, notably the Bhadra citadel, the
walls and gates of the Fort city and numerous mosques and tombs as well as important Hindu and Jain temples of
later periods.
