Dear Taekwondo competitors, coaches and families,
It is with great pleasure we would like to invite you to participate in the 2020 Mooto International Cup. This tournament will cater for experienced athletes to find the best of the best as well as beginners with novelty events who just want their first taste at tournaments.
We will offer the following 14 events: Sparring Individual & Teams (WT & ITF), Poomsae (individual, pairs, teams, Para Individual, WT & ITF divisions), Board Breaking (power and technical), speed kicking, flying side kick, jump front kick. This will be an open opportunity for athletes to showcase their Taekwondo skills and demonstrate their 5 Tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit.
Our goal is to provide a positive, safe environment that promotes the spirit of sportsmanship, fairness and respect allowing competitors to dig deep and demonstrate their skills whilst enjoying a friendly competition.
This will be the first competition where we invite ITF and WT styles to compete against each other.

6. COACHES & OFFICIALS: All must register with contact details.
7. DECLARATIONS: All competitors need to print their declaration forms which are signed
by their head instructor to be handed in at check in/registration.
8. AGE DIVISIONS: All players’ ages will be based on their age at 31st Dec 2020
9. DRAW CHANGES: will incur an additional $20 fee.
10. CANCELLATION: If you withdraw after the draws have been published $5 cost.

Weigh-in: Please make sure you know your weight when you register, do not guess.
An allowance of 0.5kg/500grams with a minimum dress code of T-shirt and shorts. Overweight/underweight
competitors will be given 1 hour to meet their weight, or they will be disqualified with no refund. If there is
an uncontested player due to withdrawal, we will try to organize a match play where we can.

Penalties for non-head kick divisions: Any head kick, whether intentional or through lack of control, will be
treated as attacking the head with fist or hand the appropriate penalty will apply.
Golden round: All matches that result in a tied score after deductions at the end of the 3rd round will
progress to the Golden Round. WT – first to 2 points, ITF – first to 1 point.
1. EVENT - Sparring Individual: Both Styles ITF & WT Traditional old school manual scoring with corner referees. The whole division will be called up to the
court and then completed. Fights will proceed in fight number order. Players may enter ITF or WT or
both but must comply with the rules & scoring.
2. EVENT – Sparring Teams: Both Styles ITF & WT Teams must comprise of 3 persons (same gender). 3 rounds per match (must be a different team
member each round), each round 1 minute. 2 points awarded for a win and 1 point awarded for draw.
Winning team is the first to 4 points.

WT POOMSAE – Black Belts WT Only (Individual, Pairs, Teams)
Black belts may enter black belt WT and black belt traditional divisions. The whole division will be called up and will be scored with the standard WT Guidelines
WT Poomsae Uniform: Official WT “wrap style” Y-neck dobok. The system of competition shall be the cut
off system and shall comprise the preliminary round, semi-final and then the final: Two designated
compulsory poomsae will be drawn by the tournament director for each of the rounds and this will be
published within 24 hours of the competition. Note the list of poomsaes to be selected from the below
table. Determination of rounds:
Preliminary round: for 20 or more players
Semi-final round: for 9 to 19 players

9. EVENT – Technical Breaking Age Division: 15-17, 18-30, 31-50, 51+ Male & Female
Belt Rank: Red and Black Belts only
Scoring: Based on points (each board broken is 2 additional points).
2 attempts on each board, 1st attempt full score, 2nd attempt minus 1 deduction.
No padding is to be worn on hands or feet when breaking.
Boards shall not be doubled up for technical breaking.
Note: 5 breaks are to be performed, each one a different technique.

10. EVENT – Power Breaking:
Divisions: 18- 30, 31-50, 51+ Male & Female
Boards - 18mm boards with 10mm spacers - cost $4 each.
Belt Rank: Red and Black Belts only
Scoring: Based on boards broken (if a tie, the lightest person wins)
Male contestants may choose to break with a Closed Fist or Knife Hand Strike.
Female contestants must break with an Open Hand Strike (palm heel or knife hand strike)
No padding is to be worn on hands when breaking. Power break will be performed on 2 standard Besser
blocks which will be provided. Only one attempt is permitted and at least one foot must always be in the
contact with the ground. Competitors must enter the number of boards required and technique when
entering. Only the provided boards and stands are to be used.
11. EVENT - PARA TAEKWONDO – POOMSAE: Both Styles ITF & WT Events to be contested are:
P20 – athletes with Intellectual Disabilities
P30 – Athletes with Physical Impairments
Divisions: 8-9, 10-11, 12-14, 15-17, 18-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61+ Male and Female
This category if for athletes with a recognisable and verifiable disability and the following information
will be required to determine the divisions.
• Athletes may use appropriate support options, such as another athlete performing in a pair.
• Where possible, performances will be categorised by disability.
• Athletes may perform a pattern (s) of their own choice.
• Judging will be subjective using qualified judges who will consider the performance on the
day and the degree of difficulty based on the severity and type of the disability.
• Scoring will be with iPad.
12. EVENT – Speed Kick Age Divisions: 7 & Under, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16 Competitor must kick a paddle for 20 seconds with one leg whilst touching the floor in between kicks,
then swap legs and repeat for a further 20 seconds. The competitor who finishes with the most kicks is
the winner.

13. EVENT – Flying Side Kick Age Divisions: 7 & Under, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, 17+
Competitor will jump over obstacles (increasing each round) and must kick target and land on feet
to score. 3 attempts can be made before being disqualified.
14. EVENT – Jump Front High Kick Age Divisions: 7 & Under, 8-10, 11-13, 14-16.
Competitors will have their height measured at check-in. All competitors must kick the paddle land
on their feet to score. The winner is determined by who kicks the highest above their own height.
Award is also given for the highest overall kick. 3 attempts before being disqualified.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Coaches: We ask that all coaches register and must allow enough coaches to cover all players.
A maximum of three (3) calls to the field of play will be given, the fight will not proceed without a coach.
A coach briefing meeting will occur at 8:30am, where they will be briefed on the day’s proceedings and
advised if there are any changes to the day’s format. All Coaches are required to attend.
Poomsae & Sparring Referees: Please register online, supply your shirt size and comply with the
dress code for officials. MIC Shirt (supplied), black pants, white shoes or white mat shoes. Please sign in
on the day and you will receive your per diem payment along with morning tea and lunch. Please don’t
register as an official if you are not willing to help on the day. Please email through any dietary needs.
Volunteers: Please register online so we can allocate you a position, also include your shirt size as you
will be given a MIC shirt to wear, morning tea and lunch. Please don’t register as a volunteer if you are
not willing to help on the day. Email through any dietary needs.
Payments: Payment for events including boards will be done at time of registration through PayPal.
You do not need to have a PayPal account, simply click on PayPal and there is an option at the bottom to
pay with a credit card.
Video Review: To enable us to run to a schedule there will be no video review, protests are available
and will be decided by the referees of the court.
Insurance: All participants (coaches, officials and athletes) must have their own insurance and provide
proof of their own insurance at registration.
Liability: All participants in this tournament take part at their own risk and asked to print and sign a
declaration. The organisers will not be held responsible for any damages, injuries/treatment, or loss to
individuals or equipment. All participants are to observe all rules and reasonable decisions and
instructions of officials, coaches and instructors.
Privacy: Personal details collected are solely for the competition involved. Participants acknowledge
that photographs may be taken during the competition by the organisers or other persons and that they
may appear in those photographs. If they appear in photographs, they authorise the organisers to use
the photographs taken at this competition for promotional purposes, including publication within media
and websites with regards to promotion of the sport. They agree to make no claim against the
organizers for any fee or royalty in relation to the use of these photographs.
Uncontested Players: If sparring entrants are uncontested, they may elect to receive a medal or
move to another division or a refund. If you are unable to compete due to medical reasons a doctor’s
certificate must be supplied. All efforts will be made to provide a match play.
Refunds: Any refunds will be issued within 1 week of the completion of the event.
