at an unsecure location where thieves can operate without

With the increased number of car break-ins an effective

car security system for your fleet is not a luxury but rather a

necessity to protect your company’s tools, materials, goods

and cars against theft. If your trucks are not secured, a thief

only needs about 30 seconds to break into the vehicle. It’s

crucial for a company to prevent this from happening as it

will hinder your daily operations seriously. More often than

not business owners invest big to protect the building and

forget to adequatly secure their mobile assets.

Thanks to a live link between the alarm system and a Track

& Trace module, All-Connects offers an interesting com-

bined system: when an unauthorised action occurs for a

specific vehicle, the owner not only receives an instant

automated text message or email but the system can also track

the location of the vehicle and/or its contents in realtime.

This information can be forwarded to the proper authori-

ties to take action. It is also possible to work with a control

room operator who can remotely immobilize the vehicle.

The digital tachograph is mandatory within the EU

and Switzerland since 1 May 2006. This measure is

mandatory for new buses and touring cars carrying more

than 8 persons (driver excluded), and new trucks (incl.

trailers) with a maximum allowed weight of over 3.500kg.

Since 2009 the law was extended to include light freight

company vehicles. Exempt are vans that occasionally have

a trailer hooked up, construction contractors, installation

companies, gardeners, market stall merchands and other

small independent traders.

The tachograph is built into the vehicle and registers impor-

tant information on drive and resting times, speed, distance

travelled, irregularities and unauthorised actions. The tacho

stores the data into the internal memory for a maximum of

28 days. Therefore, trucks need to return to the company

every month to have their data downloaded to free the hard

drive for the next 28 days. Unfortunately, this is not practical

as the trucks might be on the road somewhere far away. To

adapt the planning every month to ensure all trucks in the

fleet come back on time, costs time and money making it

tough for a company to remain competitive and flexible.

The All-Connects application automatically downloads all

registered information remotely. This way all vehicles on the

road can keep on driving to meet the planning’s deadlines
