My family has visited Arrowhead Beach for 20+ years and have fallen in love with this community. I recently was looking through an Arrowhead Beach photo album and was delighted to see pictures of my children when they were just kids visiting their Nana, Barbara Burgess. What a treat!
About two years ago, my husband and I moved here to settle into our “forever home”. As things go, I had the privilege of joining the APOA Board of Directors in May of 2016. I must say it has been a very rewarding experience to work with such dedicated people. It makes me love Arrowhead even more. I look forward to continuing the important work we do.
As I reflect on the past years, I also think about my plans for this summer. My thoughts turn to wishing all Arrowhead Beach members a wonderful summer. Like me, I hope folks are taking time to enjoy family and friends. My plan for the summer is be healthy and stay safe. Last fall, I planted 20 trees. It was quite a chore, but one well worth the effort because I am delighted to see how they have flourished. Generous neighbors were kind and gave me plants and bushes to add to my yard. I appreciate their thoughtfulness. After delays (procrastination) my garden got underway. Now I enjoy
watching my corn, tomatoes and cucumbers grow. A patch of my favorite Sunflowers are planted outside my kitchen window. Every morning I check on them in anticipation of seeing their sunny faces.
Earlier this summer, I took a road trip with my brother Tim to visit our parents. We enjoyed our time with them very much. My husband and I are hoping for a quick getaway before the
fall begins.
In the meantime, I routinely play door monitor for our dogs and cats. They’re in, they’re out; they’re in, they’re out. I make meals and clean my house (barely). When there are so many things to be thankful for there’s very little time for fretting over things beyond my control.
I love everything Arrowhead Beach has to offer; nature, neighbors, family, friends and community. Our beach and river are magical. The whispers of the river, even the rain and lightning coming across the river is mesmerizing.
My wish for all members this summer is to enjoy a mix of relaxation and adventure. Be healthy and stay safe.

The Watch Report By Dana Nicholas Neighborhood Watch Committee Chairman
Several members want to remind everyone about a couple of things. First is a reminder that children under the age of 16 are not allowed to drive golf carts in Arrowhead Beach. Specifically
it should be a licensed driver but the last thing Neighborhood Watch or any owner/resident want to do is go around asking for licenses. We want everyone to enjoy the benefits of living in Arrowhead Beach but we also want you and your children to be safe. Also a reminder that golf carts and all motorized vehicles are not allowed in the park under any circumstances. Another member wants to remind everyone to please keep your grass clippings away from the street. During our frequent rains, the grass can become very slick and a possible hazard to cars and pedestrians. Also, please be alert while walking or biking. We have several blind curves in the neighborhood so be aware of your surroundings. And make sure you carry a flashlight at night. Thank you to Mr. Ken Seals for some of those pertinent reminders. If you are interested in volunteering on the Neighborhood Watch Committee, please email Dana Nicholas at arrowheadbeach@ mediacombb.net with “Neighborhood Watch” in the subject line. Our next meeting will be in mid-August. If you see something, say something. Call the Sheriff’s Office first. Then let the Arrowhead Beach main office know within 48 hours so that we can keep track of suspicious activity. Sheriff’s Office: 252-482-8484. Arrowhead Beach Office: 252-221-8331.
Summer is in full heat mode so we hope that you are taking precautions to keep cool on these brutal summer days.
Congratulations to Anthony Provencher on his graduation from John A Holmes HS.
Our thoughts go out to the family of Alice King of 600 Apache Trail, who passed away on June 26.
Our thoughts also go out to Jean Vick and her family on the passing of Anthony Thomas Vick, Sr., 66, of 114 Mohave Trail on July 17.
We hope that Jeffery Miller is recovering from a recent surgery and that Ken Peters is recovering from a serious health issue.
Brenda and Chuck DeMoulin are looking forward to a trip to see the Ark Encounter display in Williamstown, Kentucky.
The APOA Board of Directors would like to welcome the following new property owners:
Shirley Lance
Teresa Sawyer
Ralph and Crystal Sparks
Charles Ferrell and Kandace Henry
Michael and Cynthia Thompson
We hope you enjoy your new home and all Arrowhead Beach has to offer. The APOA Business meetings are the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 am. The Annual Property Owners meeting is the first Saturday of April at 1:00 pm. Please join us and find out the latest happenings in Arrowhead Beach. We respect the privacy of our members and wish everyone the best as they deal with health, personal or financial challenges. One of the ways to overcome challenges is to reach out for help. Your neighbors are here for you.

July 4th Parade a Success! The Arrowhead Beach 1st Annual July 4th Parade was a rousing morning of fun for many of our resident parade participators. Several Board Members organized the parade and, with the help of
many of our residents and their golf carts, they put on quite a show on a slow tour of Arrowhead Beach. The parade was led by Board President Colleen Nicholas. The Edenton Steamers brought their 10-man
golf cart to help lead the parade of 7 carts and two cars. Thanks to Bill & Brenda
Robbins, Libby & Steve Mullen, Bob & Gay Beaman, Jason John, Marion & Marjory James, Jane Kabana, Cindy Atkins, Kaelly Styons, the Minton family, the Bunch family, Eleana & Richard Bartoli and several other assorted kids and pets including “Tiffany,” a full-size mannequin on top of Jane & Cindy’s cart!
Arrowhead Beach T-shirts are on sale at the
APOA office. We have a variety of colors and sizes.
Price is just $12.
