Processional Hymn: #276 – “FOR ALL THE SAINTS” Please stand & sing

For all the saints who from their labours rest, who thee by faith before the world confessed,

thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might; thou, Lord, their captain in the well–fought fight;

thou, in the darkness drear, their one true light. Alleluia! Alleluia!

O may thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold, fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,

and win with them the victor's crown of gold. Alleluia! Alleluia!

O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;

yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia! Alleluia!

The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. In

the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be a

disaster, and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace. For though

in the sight of others they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. Having been

disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them

worthy of himself; like gold in the furnace he tried them, and like a sacrificial burnt

offering he accepted them. In the time of their visitation they will shine forth, and will

run like sparks through the stubble. They will govern nations and rule over peoples, and

the Lord will reign over them forever. Those who trust in him will understand truth, and

the faithful will abide with him in love, because grace and mercy are upon his holy ones,

and he watches over his elect.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had

passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem,

coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And

I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “See, the home of God is among mortals. He

will dwell with them as their God; they will be his peoples, and God himself will be with

them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and

crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.” And the one who

was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write

this, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the

Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”

Sequence Hymn: #274– “HERE FROM ALL NATIONS, ALL TONGUES” Please stand & sing

The first two verses are sung before the Gospel.

Here from all nations, all tongues, and all peoples, countless the crowd, but their voices are one;

vast is the sight and majestic their singing: "God has the victory and reigns from the throne!"

Gone is their thirst, and no more shall they hunger; God is their shelter, his power at their side;

sun shall not pain them, no burning will torture; Jesus the Lamb is their shepherd and guide.

The last two verse will be sung; after the Gospel.

He will go with them to clear living water flowing from springs which his mercy supplies.

Gone is their grief, and their trials are over; God wipes away every tear from their eyes.

Blessing and glory and wisdom and power be to the Saviour again and again;

might and thanksgiving and honour forever be to our God: alleluia! Amen.

The Gospel

Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you.

Leader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John.

All:

When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him,

“Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her

weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit

and deeply moved. He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come

and see.” Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of

them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from

dying?” Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone

was lying against it. Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead

man, said to him, “Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days.”

Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of

God?” So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank

you for having heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake

of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said

this, he cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands

and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them,

“Unbind him, and let him go.”

The Celebration of Baptism

The priest pours the water in to the font and blesses it saying,

Priest: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Priest: We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over water the Holy Spirit

moved in the beginning of creation. Through water you led the children of Israel

out of their bondage in Egypt into the land of promise. In water your Son Jesus

received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit as the

Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the

bondage of sin into everlasting life. We thank you, Father, for the water of

baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his

resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful

obedience to your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him in

faith, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy

Spirit. Now sanctify this water by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who

are here cleansed from sin and born again, may continue for ever in the risen

life of Jesus Christ our Saviour. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all

honour and glory, now and for ever.

All: Amen.

Offertory Hymn: #281 – “WHO ARE THESE LIKE STARS APPEARING” All sing

Who are these like stars appearing, these before God's throne who stand?

Each a golden crown is wearing; who are all this glorious band?

"Alleluia!" hark, they sing, praising loud their heavenly King.

Who are these in dazzling brightness, clothed in God's own righteousness?

These whose robes of purest whiteness shall their lustre still possess,

still untouched by time's rude hand – whence come all this glorious band?

These are they who have contended for their Saviour's honour long,

wrestling on till life was ended, following not the sinful throng;

these, who well the fight sustained, triumph through the Lamb have gained.

These are they whose hearts were riven, sore with woe and anguish tried,

who in prayer full oft have striven with the God they glorified;

now, their painful conflict o'er, God has bid them weep no more.

These, the Almighty contemplating, did as priests before him stand,

soul and body always waiting day and night at his command:

now, in God's most holy place, blest they stand before his face.

to be the Saviour and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us

Priest: On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, a death he freely

accepted, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to

you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, "Take, eat: this is my

body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me." After supper

he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and

said, "Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed

for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this

for the remembrance of me." Therefore, Father, according to his command,

All: we remember his death; we proclaim his resurrection, we await his coming in glory;

Priest: and we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, Lord of all;

presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you,

gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts, that they may be the

sacrament of the body of Christ and his blood of the new covenant. Unite us

to your Son in his sacrifice, that we, made acceptable in him, may be

sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, reconcile all things in

Christ, and make them new, and bring us to that city of light where you dwell

with all your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn

of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation; by

The Communion

All baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion.

Anyone may come forward to receive a blessing.

You may stand or kneel at the Altar rail as you prefer.

Communion Hymn: #74 – “FOR THE BREAD WHICH YOU HAVE BROKEN” All sing

For the bread which you have broken, for the wine which you have poured,

for the words which you have spoken, now we give you thanks, O Lord.

By these pledges that you love us, by your gift of peace restored,

by your call to realms above us, consecrate our lives, O Lord:

in your service, Lord, defend us; help us to obey your word;

in the world to which you send us, let your kingdom come, O Lord!

Communion Hymn: #278 – “JERUSALEM THE GOLDEN” All sing

Jerusalem the golden, with milk and honey blessed,

beneath thy contemplation sink heart and voice oppressed.

I know not, O I know not what joys await us there,

what radiancy of glory, what bliss beyond compare.

They stand, those halls of Sion, all jubilant with song,

and bright with many an angel and all the martyr throng.

The Prince is ever in them, the daylight is serene,

the pastures of the blessed are decked in glorious sheen.

There is the throne of David, and there, from care released,

the shout of them that triumph, the song of them that feast;

and they who with their leader have conquered in the fight,

forever and forever are clad in robes of white.

O sweet and blessed country, the home of God's elect;

O dear and future vision, that eager hearts expect:

even now by faith we see thee, even here thy walls discern;

to thee our thoughts are kindled; for thee our spirits yearn.
