out my blog post here to see step-by-step photos and accompanying descriptions if you

are attempting to make this minion. This pattern is quite intricate and is recommended

for those with some amigurumi experience (not a beginner’s project). It takes some time

to crochet all the different parts, but it’s well worth it in the end!

I congratulate you, stay in love with his work with this character.

I assume that the beginner in crochet but my boyfriend loves these characters and I decided to

surprise but a couple of terms I do not understand and I would like to know if Icould help if it was

not much of a problem ......... .

the query is on the following abbreviations:

R1: 7 sc in magic ring. (7 sts)

R2: Sc 2 In Each sc around. (14 sts)

R3: * Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (21 sts)

R4: * Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (28 sts)

R5: * Sc 3, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (35 sts)

R6: * Sc 4, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (42 sts)

R7: * Sc 5, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (49 sts)

R8: * Sc 6, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (56 sts)

R9: * Sc 7, 2 sc in next sc *, rep 7 times. (63 sts)

I emphasize my doubt in R with its number and the abbreviation Sc

and here I do not understand DEC

Thank you, Paulette! The "R" means "Row" (e.g. Row 1, Row 2, Row 3, Row 4, etc) and

the abbreviation "Sc" means single crochet. "Dec" means you "decrease" your stitches. I

highly recommend checking out my blog post called "Amigurumi for Beginners"

(http://allaboutami.tumblr.com/... and watching the videos on youtube that I've linked to.

Seeing it all in action will hopefully help! Have fun crocheting and making your own minion

:)

? for you. On boots: i need clarification. R8 you have 36 stictches but R9 doesn't make any

since how can you sc 14 times in the next 14 sc and dec 1 - that's 15 our of the 36 sc (from the

previous row) and you are saying to do it 4 times within the row there's too many stitches. along

with R10 R11

Hi Elizabeth! Keep in mind that when you decrease, you are decreasing over TWO

STITCHES. Thus, you single crochet 14 (taking up 14 stitches), then you decrease four

times (taking up 8 stitches), and then you single crochet 14 once again (taking up 14

stitches). 14 + 8 + 14 = 36, which is the number of stitches from the previous row. The

same goes for R10 and R11.

Amazing pattern! I've just finished my Minion (with a few adjustments, the googles, and the arms

I see below it is with worsted weight yarn. The pattern says you used a 2.00mm hook to make

this. I have been crocheting for 30+ years and have never crocheted worsted weight yarn with a

steel crochet hook. My steels are the only place that I can find a 2.00mm hook at. Did you really

do this Minion with a doily steel crochet hook?

1

• Reply •

Stephanie • 5 months agoM o d LoopyGrandma

Yes, I did :) I always use my trusty aluminum 2 mm hook for most of my amigurumi! I

can get really tight stitches that way!

I have 2 more on the go right now - a regular sized, 2-eyed one, and a tall 1-eyed

adding lucky shiny pennies to sit in the pocket, minted in significant years for the

In the instructions for the straps, you'll see this part after you've completed 28 rows:

"Once measures about 6.5”, strap splits to form hole for button:

Ch 2 on one side. Fasten off. Attach yarn on other side. Chain 3,

sc 1 to join to other side. Ch 1, turn, sc 2. Fasten off and weave in

ends." Chaining on either side will create the hole for the button!

Hi there,

I'm working my way through this pattern - my first such project - and he's turning out great thank

to the clear instructions.

But, I'm a little confused with the boots. I've got as far as R6-7: Sc 36, so I have the sole of the

boot. But I don't understand what you mean with R8: Through back loops only, sc 36. What do

you mean by 'through back loops only'? I mean, how is it different from what I did on R7 - Sc all

the way around the oval?

Please help :)

Hey Tracey! That's wonderful how you're working on my pattern, and I'm glad to hear that

it's going well! Normally when you crochet you go through BOTH loops. However,

sometimes you work through just the back loops to leave a nice border/edge on your

piece. Please see this blog post to see which loops are the back loops and which are the

front loops: http://allaboutami.tumblr.com/... Hope this helps!

Big fan. This was my 4th project of amigurumi. They are soooo much fun.

Great work! That's wonderful how you're working on so many amigurumi projects!

I truly enjoyed making this minion. Thank you for posting your pattern, it was so easy to follow. I

made him for my cousin's child who just turned 3.

Thanks again.

This is sooo cute, Brittany! I love how your Minion looks so happy and excited! The

"Birthday Boy" button is a great touch :) Your cousin's child must've loooved this cutie!

Thanks for your feedback too- glad you enjoyed making him!

Hi, I have finished the Body and the Overalls, but I am having so much trouble with the arms and

legs, I am getting the 7sc, but it is so narrow, I cannot get my finger in to stretch it a bit to get the

chain to sc in.....I am getting frustrated with it. Could I do a flat piece and run a thread up through

the edges to pull it together. I know this is not the Amigurumi style, but it is the only way I can see

myself doing it.

Barbara.

Feel free to do anything that will make it easier, Barbara! It's absolutely fine to improvise

since everyone crochets and works differently :)
