With AP-BUILD inc., the in-house general contracting group, Alison Pickart, LLC also has the knowledge and ability to manage large scale projects from the ground up, while also making sure every detail is attended to inside the home. Rough. Cut. Glamour. These three words epitomize the aesthetic interior designer Alison Pickart embodies. Her ever-evolving career has been inspired by nature and adorned by glamour. She triumphantly mixes the eclectic with the conservative, the serious with the fun, and the fantasy with reality. Educated at Harrington School of Design and the University of Dayton Ohio, Alison has been constantly on the move creating unique and beautiful interiors since her firms inception in 2003. Working with clients across the nation as well as internationally, AP,LLC maintains offices in Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Never one to limit her creativity to interiors, Pickart has most recently divulged her conceptions into an unexpected yet show stopping line of custom jewelry. FRIPPERYcollection encompasses every part of the distinctive lifestyle Pickart conspires to create, and translates it to a much smaller scale. Each piece represents equal parts refinement and rawness to conceive a look completely its own. What began as a fun personal side project quickly progressed into a sought after custom jewelry line featured on celebrities and in publications nationwide. In addition to her work with private clients, you can see Alison Pickart most recently as an ‘on-air’ lifestyle contributor for ABC7 in Chicago.

When someone hires me to ‘help’ them with their home, I like to consider their space as an empty shell that holds no boundaries as to what can be added, deleted, embellished…. Changed :) The process that usually ensues is a terrible mess of destruction (which I usually send said clients out of town for) What emerges after the ‘ugly’ winds up (if successful) the exact picture of what was imagined in my head….

I like to challenge people to consider every space as an opportunity for something fantastic… This 4’ wide 12’ long hallway was, absolutely, nothing to write home about… And, it actually didn’t even function properly as a storage passageway with all of those swing doors. While what we did {demo walls, lower sprinkler heads, raise doorways, etc} was no small feat, what ultimately became of this lackluster hallway, was not only a totally usable large master closet and linen closet, but a glamorously addressed space that reflects the time, effort (and expense) that was put in to the rest of the house. When every space in a home is considered and given the proper ‘weight’, the most wonderful feeling of ‘completeness’ is achieved – and no spot is off limits for the casual gab gathering… come to think of it, most of my parties wind up at the end of the night sitting in my closet with my favorite cohorts and the last glasses of champagne – I suppose it is my favorite room in the house after all! :)
