DAD Background In late 2001 after establishment of transitional

government a massive donor aid flow to Afghanistan

To enhance transparency and accountability of the development Assistance to Afghanistan.

Background

The Islamic Transitional State of Afghanistan developed Development Assistance Database (DAD) as a core service for the Government ministries, the international assistance community and the Afghan people in June 2002. It seeks to provide a clear overview of all aid provided to Afghanistan, broken down project-by-project.

Supported By Is part of a UNDP package of support to the IRA

for aid coordination and management.



Data Collection The main purpose of establishing the DAD as web

based application was to allow the public, Government and International partners to view, get report & update the information on Aid globally.

Project level updates on online DAD was partially implemented due to some limitations (Internet).

To keep the DAD up to date other methods of data exchanged have been developed. Provision of data in soft copies (MS Access, excel, world), hard copies etc.
