I am going to State Theatre New Jersey
in New Brunswick to see a show!

I will be going to the show with
We will have a lot of fun!

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
I will go to the theater in
a car.
I will get out of the car in
front of the theater.
Or we will park nearby and
walk to the theater.

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
I will go into the theater.
I will be in the lobby.
A helper called an usher
will take my ticket and
tell me where to go next.

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
I will walk up the stairs to
the second floor.
I will be in a big room.
I will see the show in
this room.

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
At the show, I can sit in a chair, or I can
sit on the floor.
There will be other people watching
the show.
There will be a bathroom close by
I can use if I need to.

If I get scared or things
are too loud, I can cover
my ears, use my iPad
or my headphones, or
squeeze a toy.
Or I can go downstairs and
take a break in a quiet room
where I can sit, color, or do
something else.

The show is called Alex and the Kaleidoscope.
This is Alex. He will sing and play the guitar.

There will be two other performers in the show.
This is Tony.
He will play the drums.
This is Elliott.
He will play the guitar.

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
The show will start.
Alex, Tony, and Elliot will play some really fun songs!
During the show, the audience will sing, wave their arms,
and dance along to the music.
If I want to, I can sing, wave my arms, and dance.

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
Alex, Tony, and Elliot will play a song about riding on a train.
If I want, I can make a train sound: CHOO-CHOO!
They will play a song called
“Jim Along Josie.”
If I want, I can do a fun dance.

ALEX & THE KALEIDOSCOPE SOCIAL STORY
They will play a silly song about a
Tyrannosaurus.
During the song, I can roar like a
Tyrannosaurus if I want to.
Alex, Tony, and Elliot will play
a song about different kinds
of insects.

Alex, Tony, and Elliot will play a song about all the
different kinds of people there are in the world.
It’s great to be different!
They will play some songs about
being happy.
What are some things that make
me happy?

Alex, Tony, and Elliot will sing a song about Superman.
When they play this song, I can jump up and down and
wave my arms if I want to.
They will sing a song called “Shine.”
If I want to, I can dance and say “shine!”

In the lobby, I will get a
cookie and some milk!
Then the show will be
over.
I will go down the stairs
to the lobby.

Going to a show is so much fun!
Then I will leave the theater and go home.
