A Note From the Pastor…

I hope you’ll be in worship Sunday. We will be using a reading from Lamentations as a focus scripture for the Reflection. One part of the passage reads like this: “Certainly God’s compassion isn’t through! They are re-newed every morning.”

That verse forms the basis of a prayer that I have often found meaningful. It is from An Order for Morning Praise and Prayer – from the United Methodist Book of Worship

Whether you are reading this first thing in the morning or at a different time of day, perhaps this prayer might pro-vide you with renewal for whatever your day holds.

New every morning is your love, great God of light, and all day long you are working for good in the world.

Stir up in us a desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors, and to devote each day to your Son,

our Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen. (from the Presbyterian Worshipbook)

I hope to see you on Sunday - if not before.

Peace –

Eric

Did you know the church is in prison? Women at the Well is our sister congregation, a United Meth-odist congregation within the walls of the women’s correctional institution in Mitchellville, Iowa. One of the pastors involved in this ministry, Rev. Paul Witmer, will be with us on Sunday, October 20th to share with us about the many years of weekly worship, supportive community, faith nur-ture groups, and aftercare that United Methodist congregations have offered to the women there. Paul will also be available to visit about the ministry of Women at the Well following worship in the Wesley Room.

Thank You September Mowers !!

Our September church mowers were Susan Bon-nicksen, Annette Waldorf, and Randy Wal-dorf. They did a great job! Please thank them for their hard work! Again, a big thank you to Ron Smith who maintained the mowing equipment & kept the gas can full.

World Communion Sunday is a celebra-tion observed by Christian denominations, taking place on the first Sunday of every October. It fo-cuses on an observance of the Eucharist and of-fers congregations a distinctive opportunity to ex-perience Holy Communion in the context of the global community of faith. This Sunday October 6th, Christians in every culture will break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church. On that day, they remember that they are part of the whole body of believers. Whether shared in a grand ca-thedral, a mud hut, outside on a hilltop, in a meet-inghouse, or in a storefront, Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. The World Communion Offer-ing will go to for racial-ethnic World Communion Scholarships.
