The Calcium Chloride Production Project at Khur-Biabanak Potash Plant is located at 25 km east of the city of Khur on the road connecting Khur and Tabas. Khur is the center of the Khur-Biabanak County and is the easternmost city in Isfahan Province located in Central Iran with the elevation of 796 m from the sea level. The project was designed to produce 30,000 metric tons per year of Anhydrous Calcium Chloride (CaCl2 powder). The feed brine is recovered from evaporation ponds and mixed with slaked lime (Ca(OH)2) to produce magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) and calcium chloride (CaCl2). NOVOPRO provided the detailed designs of the following equipment: Filter press for magnesium hydroxide removal Rising film evaporator for calcium chloride brine enrichment Spray drier/cooler for calcium chloride powder crystallization NOVOPRO also conducted a Feasibility Study for the optimisation of carnallite ponds, pond modelling for increasing output of carnallite harvest.
