HIGH CAPACITY & HIGH AVAILABILITY ADAPTIVE MODULATION

• Adaptive Modulation exploits available radio bandwidth increasing overall throughput, guaranteeing committed services.

• Benefit from full available bandwidth under normal conditions

• Priority traffic determined by QoS function

• Traffic with high priority, like voice, will always have bandwidth available

Page 11: ALCATEL-LUCENT 9500 MPR - Amk Services · PDF fileZero footprint configurations with 9500 MPR -e Reduces power consumption and amount of EQ needed Optimized for tail applications Alcatel-Lucent

HITLESS ADAPTIVE MODULATION

- Error free Modulation changes without bit errors, whatever the service: TDM OR Ethernet

- Adaptive Modulation cope not only with rain (flat) fading, but also with complex Selective/Multipath fading

- It is error free with fading speed up to 100 dB/sec (normally fading speed are far below this value)

- PTx of MPT-HC/HL is changed according to selected modulation scheme so maximizing system gain and overall availability

9500 MPR’s ERROR FREE ADAPTIVE MODULATION PROVIDES THE EASIEST WAY TO INCREASE CAPACITY IN CARRIER ETHERNET

MULTISERVICE RING PROTECTION SIMULTANEOUSLY PROTECT TDM AND ETHERNET

One physical ring can simultaneously protect TDM and Ethernet traffic using both directions of the ring.

Traffic in handoff point is double the traffic of a legacy UPSR ring. TDM and Ethernet can be mixed in the ring

30xDS1 + 100 Mb/s VoIP + 167 Mb/s HSDPA 100 Mb/s VoIP + 215 Mb/s HSDPA 30xDS1 + 582 Mbit/sec = 630 Mbit/s

Example: 50MHz/256QAM, 2 x 315 Mbit/sec RF pipe

MULTISERVICE RING PROTECTION DOUBLES CAPACITY

If one ring direction fails, all the traffic is re-routed on the remaining direction. If the traffic exceeds the available radio bandwidth, TDM traffic and Ethernet high priority traffic are transmitted and best effort traffic dropped

Traffic CoS ensures high priority traffic is always delivered.

Example: 50MHz/256QAM, 1 x 315 Mbit/sec RF pipe 30xDS1 + 100 Mb/s VoIP + 100 Mb/s VoIP + 67 Mb/s HSDPA 30xDS1 + 267 Mbit/sec = 315 Mbit/s

HIGH CAPACITY & HIGH AVAILABILITY RADIO LINK AGGREGATION (LAG)

In this example, user traffic is split-up into radio channels. Advantages are:

1. Throughput. The overall radio Ethernet throughput is more than 900Mb/s ( 3x 300 Mbit/s, being this the value for 256QAM@50 MHz)

2. Protection. In case of a failure of one of the three channels, all the traffic is redirected on the remaining two links (with a throughput of around 600 Mb/sec). The discarded or dropped traffic is the one with lower priority: high priority traffic is still running on the remaining active channels

Traffic Link Aggregation can be applied to radio ports – AKA “Radio LAG”
