Understanding how health is shaped The social determinants of healthareexplainedinasimpleand common language.

Summer 2015Inour18thissue,weexploredhealthysummerliving, groundbreaking research and the social determinants of health. The Apple team worked closely with AHS’s Alberta Population & Public Health Council Secretariat along withateamofexpertsfromacrossCanadato develop a 19-page section on the social determinants of health. In it are three stories, including a 10-page feature on how the BloodreserveinsouthernAlbertaisworkingto improve its people’s health through job training.

Collaborations Apple’s Summer 2015 issue was themagazine’sfirstsplitrun:some60,000copiesincludedHealth Matters, a new eight-page publication by Calgary’s seven primary care networks. The Calgary PCNs came to Apple for help developing editorial content and linking into Apple’s wide-reaching distribution channels. Health Matters will appear in Calgary copiesforatleastthenextyear.
